Currently, I work at Malaika Foundation, KE as the Programmes and Legal Affairs Officer. Here, other than donor project implementation, I develop proposals, workplans, review Monitoring and Evaluation Reports, send out periodical programmatic reports and advise on the donor-to-organization contractual obligations and compliance. Besides, I act as the legal advisor on compliance with legislation, policy, procurement and human resource.
I am the overall team leader where I head programmes, supervise the monitoring and evaluation team as well as check all outgoing reports for quality and contractual compliance.
I have worked as an in-house legal officer where I first served as a trainee with Kenya Veterinary Vaccines Production Institute (KEVEVAPI) and later as an assistant legal officer at Catholic Diocese of Nakuru (CDN). At CDN, my legal services extended to the hospitals, schools, eateries, churches and children homes under the ownership of CDN. In both CDN and KEVEVAPI, I was key in preparation of Board Meetings, minutes and Board papers, detailed legal research on cases touching on the institutions, liaising with external advocates and keeping track of the cases.
I reviewed and updated all policies on Procurement, Human Resource, Anti Money Laundering, Sexual Harassment, Trafficking, Whistle Blowing, Anti-Bribery and Corruption, safeguard of children among other policies in both CDN and Malaika Foundation.
Previously, I worked with Kenya Railways, through its Unit called Relocation Management Unit (ReMU) in the implementation of Relocation Action Plan (RAP). RAP was a project funded by the World Bank to relocate the persons affected during the relocation exercise in Kibera and Mukuru informal settlements. I served in fostering the relations between the project affected communities and Kenya Railways; amicable complaints resolutions in the project and periodical update reports to the Management on the progress.
I also worked with the Judiciary, Milimani Law Courts at the Commercial and Tax Division where I developed intensive, accurate and timely legal research skills while undertaking my pupillage.
I hold a Bachelor Degree in Law from Kenyatta University and a Post Graduate Diploma from the Kenya School of Law.
I successfully completed my Secondary School Education with a B- in Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) and Primary Education with a total marks of 386/500 in the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE).
