Sot Technical Training

Institute.(civil and Building Trainer) Currently working with Sot TTI. This is an institute that provides Technical, Industrial, Vocational and Entrepreneurial training that promotes innovation and creativity to meet global social-economic and environmental challenges.

The following are my duties: a) Provide day to day support and management of capacity strengthening activities within learning institution. b) To develop and deliver institutional support towards planning and governance c) Undertaking training in Civil and Building Engineering in accordance with the syllabus. d) Carrying out research work under the guidance and supervision of senior trainers. e) Setting and marking of exams and assignments. f) Supervising trainer’s projects and practical works. g) Preparing teaching and learning materials and schemes of work. h) Conduct regular coaching and mentoring sessions to students with local partners staff and mobilize members to provide technical or operation input and expertise.

• China CAMC Engineering CO., LTD. Worked with China CAMC Engineering CO., LTD as site assistant manager. This is an incorporated company affiliated to China National Machinery Industry Corporation. It makes innovations in Engineering, Investment and Trade to achieve its success. The following were my assigned roles. a) Organizing tools, plant, machinery and materials, supervising construction activities. b) Preparation and delivery of technical presentations explaining best materials that are certified for building for example the right sand, aggregates or even type of cement required by specifications on government proposals. c) Meeting and making agreements with companies to do supply of building materials mostly the Bamburi Cement industry. d) Talking with construction firms with plant and machineries on terms and conditions of their service to our company.Negotiatonons on payments and term were also signed. e) Organizing workers, Identifying materials and equipments that may be required. f) Ensuring construction is carried out accurately, following plan and specifications of construction works. g) Ensures that tasks are completed on time and to the required quality standards. h) Training employees and taking responsibility for health and safety on site. i) Maintaining detailed and accurate site reports. j) Communicating detail project progress to key stakeholders that is to project Engineers and Architects and even government representative on their site visits. k) Making research and improvement of materials and machinery the company uses mainly to lower costs and to increase the output. l) Taking part in Companies Tendering processes to ensure standards are established.
• CAPYEI Building and construction Facilitator. Worked with CAP Youth Empowerment Institute Kenya as a Building and construction Facilitator from April 2018 to December 2020. It is a Non Governmental Organization that provides basic employability skills trainings for the disadvantaged youths in the society with a particular focus on women to get equitable, qualitative learning and access promising labour market oriented opportunities, savings and credit that support their pathway to safe and positive futures.

The following below was my duties: a) Training and equipping students with Building and Construction skills and Techniques. b) Assisting students to understand in taking site measurements and preparations of BQ for project. c) Teaching students on interpretations and drawings of structural buildings using arch CAD and AutoCAD drawing software. d) Assessment of students during their internships in various construction companies. e) Sourcing of guest lectures and organizing field visits and industry exposures for students f) Linking the youths with potentials employers. g) Participates in road shows to recruit students and further marketing to the program. h) Source for credible mentors to mentor the students. i) Preparation of technical reports to the donors on the materials needed for training purposes. j) Making requisition to the donor on required materials and thereafter making orders for supplies from the suppliers. k) Making follow ups with Engineers or companies to check on our student’s progresses and documenting reports for the donors. l) Maintaining proper records of students database. m) Identification of students’ problems and providing suitable solutions.

• Ministry of Roads, Transport and Public works. Was attached in the ministry of Roads, Transport and public works Bomet County Government from February to May 2017 where I was involved in the following areas of engineering: a) Introduction to standards of office procedures. b) Reading and interpretations of Architectural and structural data and drawings. c) Analysis and design of structural elements. d) Supervision, inspection and documentations of real time constructions of Building, Bridges and civil works. e) Design of civil works presentations of civil works. f) Presentations of design data and AutoCAD drawings. g) Use of computer applications in; PROKON and excel spread sheets in analysis and design of structural elements. 5.

Kericho

Water and Sanitation Company. 10TH July to 4TH September 2015; comprehensive engineering services majorly in water works where the following were my duties during the period: a) Marketing and selling an NGO program (GIZ) which was mainly to help eradicate the pit latrine in the city. b) Conducting surveys, meetings and making awareness to make the community to understand on the pro-poor program. c) Keeping and maintaining records of customers on Pro-poor program. d) Monitoring the construction of the required facilities, giving out guidelines on the procedures and maintenance of the system as required by the company. e) Following up on the compensations from the company to clients who have completed the construction of new toilet system and having further connect to the sewer systems. f) Preparations of bills of quantities (BOQ) reports for projects in various areas.
