I am a PhD student and research assistant at the University of Nairobi's Department of Chemistry (Natural Products Laboratory). My primary research interests are in food and industrial chemistry, the isolation and structure elucidation of bioactive natural products with anticancer and antimicrobial properties from Kenyan medicinal plants, and neglected tropical diseases (NTDs). I have hands-on experience with chromatographic, spectroscopic, and classical techniques for the characterization of food/vegetable oil samples, phytochemical investigation of medicinal plants, and water purification and testing for public supply and consumption.
I have published (as author/co-author) over twenty (20) research articles in peer-reviewed journals to date.
I am a highly motivated person who performs his duties with a lot of diligence and is willing to work in a progressive and challenging position where hard work, commitment, initiative ability, and integrity will have a valuable role to play in career development. I am a flexible, progressive strong team player, analytical, and confident individual with high ethical standards and strong interpersonal skills who can lead with determination to deliver. I have at least four years of teaching and supervision experience. I teach pre-degree and undergraduate students general, physical, and organic chemistry.
I hold BSc and M.Sc (Industrial Chemistry) from Nasarawa State University, Keffi, Nigeria, and currently, I have defended my PhD thesis in chemistry at the University of Nairobi, Nairobi, Kenya.
