hold a Master in Pharmacovigilance and Pharmacoepidemiology from the University of Bordeaux (Eu2P), a Master of Science in Medical Virology from Jomo Kenyatta University and a Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm.) from the University of Nairobi and hold a certificate in leadership and management in health by the University of Washington.
I work for the Ministry of Medical Services (Government of Kenya) as a pharmacist/ pharmacovigilance focal person stationed at Murang’a District Hospital, Murang’a County where my duties include regular pharmacy assignments, ADR reporting, drug safety assessment and risk reduction, and drug utilization studies.
I have trained and worked remotely with MediPharm solutions (New Jersey, USA) as a drug safety associate handling mainly case processing and QC using ARGUs safety databases, and medicines literature monitoring (MLM). Through these positions and training, I acquired skills in MLM, ARGUs case processing, MedDRA coding, and drug safety reports quality control.
Through the Masters in Pharmacovigilance and Pharmacoepidemiology training, I gained skills in ICSR reporting, ADR signal detection and quantification, and aggregate report writing on drugs and medical devices (PEBRER, SUSAR, RMP, and DSUR), drugs benefits assessment and drugs benefits-risks assessment and quantification.
