I am a Data Specialist, currently working as Health Information Systems officer (HIS) at Amref Health Africa (USAID Imarisha Jamii Project) for the HIV/TB & RMNCAH Project in Turkana. I have 5 years managing the HIV/TB data through Program Systems and KHIS systems for the MOH. I have also had 4 years' experience in managing GBV information Using GBVIMS having worked in Kakuma Refugee camps and Dadaab refugee camps in Kenya.

I have worked with reputable organizations implementing USAID projects such as Ampath and CDC Projects in Turkana Such as EGPAF and UNITAID project. I have also worked in the UNHCR programs managing refugee Projects both in Kakuma and Dadaab Refugee Camps in Kenya in reputable organizations such as Lutheran world Federation, Kenya Red Cross and Danish Refugee council as Data Officer managing GBV data using GBVIMS system for Gender Based Violence reporting. My vast experience has exposed me to working with different people from diverse cultural, social and religious backgrounds.

This has instilled in me excellent communication skills that have helped me to cope-up with difficult situations and foster my ability to work as an effective team player.

Health Information Systems Officer (HIS) - AMREF Health Africa Imarisha Jamii Project - Turkana

(2020-06)

• Participate in monitoring the implementation of project activities to ensure conformance to project objectives, work plans, and expected results
• Provide continuous technical and mentorship support to health care workers on data management processes, data analysis skills and interpretation of indicators to meet
• Continuously strengthen capacity of project and health care workers at county, sub-county and community levels on use of DHIS2 and other community systems to ensure timely, complete and accurate reporting of data into DHIS2 and other community systems
• Capacity building of HMIS mentors up to the lowest level
• Provide TA to the Sub-county and select facilities to generate information from KHIS, EID Websites and other Data platforms available
• Liaise with sub county health records and information officers to ensure consistent supply of data collection tools for program activities and other M&E resources as required
• Work with facility staff and sub-county HROs to ensure timely entry of HMIS data
• Work with the HIS Specialist to ensure timely entry of data into project custom databases
• Support health facilities to conduct regular data quality verification/RDQA using standard operating procedures, resolve discrepant or missing data and provide regular feedback on progress with data quality to health care workers – both at community and facility level
• Provide continuous technical and mentorship support to health care and community health workers on data management processes, data analysis skills and interpretation of indicators to meet Imarisha Jamii and MOH program requirement
• Strengthen use of data for decision making by supporting MOH to conduct FP/RMNCAH, nutrition data review meetings at various levels, including county, sub-county, health facility and community levels
• Liaise with Sub-county Health Teams to promote, review/ develop track and use health indicators in health system planning and identify best practices that can be translated into scale-up activities
• Ensure quality in collection, cleaning and entry of data into project/Amref databases and USAID reporting platforms that include DMRIS and JPHES (Joint Public Health and Environmental System)
• Tracking monthly and quarterly performance of the project and completing monthly indicator performance dashboard and ensuring the sub county performances is promptly shared with team for improvement

• Work very closely with the SCHMT (Sub-County Health Management team and Facility Health Records Information Officers, CASCOs, CTLCs among other members) to ensure timely collection, collation, analysis and transmission of information
• Provide feedback on data quality issues to health facilities and CHMT to ensure quality data management
• Working closely with the Quality Improvement Program Officer and the SIE Officer conduct regular data quality assessments and incorporate these into routine program monitoring to ensure continuous quality Improvement

• Under the guidance of the Strategic information & Evaluation officer, coordinate all Timiza 90 Project M&E activities within his/her region

• Work closely with the Timiza 90 Project SIE Officer and project management to coordinate the strategic information activities in his/her region

DATA MONITORING ASSISTANT (GBVIMS) - Danish Refugee Council - Kakuma and Kalobeyei

• Manage the GBV Information Management System (GBVIMS) by ensuring accurate Data entry into the incident recorder, clean up, storage and system maintenance (troubleshooting)
• Train and offer needed support to GBV staff to correctly and effectively use GBVIMS tools (GBV Classification tool, consent form, intake form, incident recorder & ISP)
• Strengthen and maintain networks with other Protection partners in Kakuma and Kalobeyei by attending GBV and GBVIMS working group meetings to help analyze GBV trends, findings and best practices
• Conduct data analysis and provide inputs, information and statistics for monthly, quarterly, annual and other reports to the supervisor
• Ensure timely sharing of GBVIMS line data on a monthly basis to UNHCR focal point for consolidation
