Lizz Wanjiru

name is Lizz Wanjiru Kariuki, a Kenyan female citizen aged twenty-eight .

I obtained c plus in my KCSE and joined Masinde Muliro university where I took a four-year course in social work and obtained second class honours upper division.

I have been able to work for attachment at National Social Security Fund for three months and also at the department of children in Embu County for four months. In these institutions I have been able to acquire skills and experience more importantly on how to serve people, rather than the power to rule them. I am a selfless person, honest and always ready to work even under pressure. I always put chapter six of the constitution on leadership and integrity to practice.

I am a computer literate. I have skills in report writing, communication skills, teamwork and also interpersonal relationship. I always connect well with people.

At children department office under my supervisor Mr.

Mundi I was able to acquire skills like: drafting simple letters and customer care, data management and compilation. Casework and complaints management. Tracing and reintegration of abandoned or lost children. Conducting mediations between parties based on the best interest of the child.

I went for several home visits in Mbeere North, Manyatta and also at Nkubu where we had visited homes for children who had been adopted because we wanted to know how the children are doing physically, emotionally and spiritually.

Working at children department office enabled me to also interact with various students at rescue centre around Embu town and through this interaction I was able to understand how their minds work.

I am currently working as an office clerk at Smart mind ventures Sacco and my main work is on

Recruiting members and marketing.

Receiving and receipting cash.

Report keeping.

Attending clients.

Having work here for almost five months I have gained courage in talking to people, expressing myself thus improving my listening and communication skills. I love my job but am a young adult who want to achieve more and also to put my love for social work into practice.
