September 2022-Date PR & Communications Manager FEDERATION OF KENYA EMPLOYERS (FKE)
Main Role: FKE is the umbrella body of Employers in Kenya and a tripartite partner of the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection. As Communications & PR Manager i I am involved in the following projects or tasks;
- Enhancing visibility and advocacy influence of FKE through development and execution of communication strategy and advocacy campaigns that lobby government on Industrial Relations
- Spearhead communication strategy development and advocacy engagements for Business Africa - Africa’s Employer Business Member Organizations (EBMOs) with membership from over 40 countries
- Spearhead Media Relations and PR initiatives that facilitate FKE advocacy initiatives
- Develop communication strategy for FKE partnerships with International Labour Organization (ILO) among other partners
- Develop and Spearhead execution of the FKE Membership Marketing Strategy aimed at increasing member engagement
- Ensure Digital Marketing initiatives enhance digital engagement and reach while generating leads for conversion
- Identify strategic partnership engagements that enhance visibility and thought leadership position of the Federation.
Impact
- Successfully advocated the Government on the NHIF Act no.1 2022 and NSSF
- Successfully grown FKE Membership by 25% through development & implementation of communications strategy initiatives.
- Enhanced visibility and influence of the Federation through implementation of Media Relations activities that increased PR Value by 40%
January 2022-August 2022 Project Consultant-Marketing & Communication TESPOK
Main Role: Technology Service Providers of Kenya (TESPOK) is a professional, non-profit organization representing the interests of Technology service providers in Kenya. As a Project Consultant I am involved in the following projects or tasks;
- Prepare and oversee the project checklist and deliverables
- Coordination of the project deliverables and required support teams
- Over-see the identification and onboarding of various stakeholders
- Preparation of project briefs for use by relevant teams
- Preparation of project reports

October 2021- DateCo Founder & Director Marketing Ngazi Main Role: An Advertising Technology platform focusing on provision of transit advertising services. We provide the ability to engage with audiences on the move across the whole of Kenya.Our main goal is to provide small businesses with an opportunity to showcase their products and services at affordable costs. As Co Founder, I am involved in the following project or tasks:
- Business Development with the aim of acquiring new clients
- Fundraising with the aim of attracting investors to the company
- Marketing & Communication with a goal of creating awareness and visibility for the brand
Impact
- Successfully signed up two clients (Ndovu and 4G Capital)
- Developed an investor deck which is currently being used in investor pitches globally
- Developed Brand Identity and other communication collaterals
June,2018 - June,2021Head of Marketing and Corporate CommunicationsUnited Bank for Africa Main Role: United Bank for Africa is Africa’s global bank with presence in 20 African countries, London,Newyork and Paris. Their main goal was to enhance their visibility in East and Southern Africa. As their Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications ESA, I was involved in the following project or tasks:
- Tony Elumelu Foundation Entrepreneurship Program aimed at empowering African entrepreneurs with training and funding with the aim of eradicating poverty
- Marketing and Communications strategy - Kenya,Uganda,Tanzania,Zambia,Mozambique & DRC (East and Southern Africa)
- Digital Marketing Strategy for East and Southern Africa, managing a USD 5,227 monthly budget.
Impact:
- Successfully developed Marketing Communication Strategy for Tony Elumelu Entrepreneurship programme registration drive leading to 5,247 applications.Due to the campaign Kenya had the second highest number of applications across the group
- Conducted a brand campaign in ESA region which resulted in 80% business growth in the region
- Developed a digital marketing strategy for UBA East and Southern Africa subsidiaries,successfully growing the social media channels following from 25,284 to 1,067,578
February, 2014 - May,2018Senior Officer, Communications & Investor Relations Nairobi Securities ExchangeMain Role: Nairobi Securities Exchange is the principal bourse in Kenya and a leading African Exchange. Their main goal was to increase brand visibility and enhance stakeholder value. As their Officer, Communications and subsequently Senior Officer, Communications & Investor Relations , I was involved in the following project or tasks:
- NSE Rebranding whose goal was to showcase the stock market as all inclusive
- NSE IPO with the objective of self listing its shares on the stock exchange
- M-Akiba Bond aimed at increasing the uptake of government bonds with Kenyans investing as low as Kes.3000
- Board Diversity Report aimed at showcasing current state of board diversity amongst listed companies while emphasising the importance of board diversity amongst listed companies
- NSE Charity Trading Day is an annual event that provides an opportunity for capital market players to come together and address socio-economic challenges
Impact:
- Championed the NSE rebranding journey, conducting a PR and Marketing campaign that was a success.
- Managed the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE’s) IPO marketing communications campaign which sought to raise Kes.627 million by selling up to 66 million new shares.As a result of my efforts the IPO received an oversubscription of 664%.
- Successfully planned and launched the M-Akiba bond in partnership with the Government and other stakeholders with over 300,000 Kenyans registering for the bond.
- Led the development of the NSE diversity report which showcased a female presence of 25% while emphasizing the importance of embracing diversity in business in order to enhance performance and growth
- Successfully designed,launched and held several NSE Charity Trading day events raising a total of Kes 30 million
May 2012- January 2014`Communications & Advertising Officer Equity Bank GroupMain Role: Equity Bank Group is Kenya’s largest bank.Their main goal is to be the champion of the socio-economic prosperity of the people of Africa. As their communications and advertising officer , I was involved in the following project or tasks:
- Wings to Fly program that seeks to support top performing children from financially challenged backgrounds with secondary education
- Launch of Equity Bank Tanzania with the aim of deepening Equity Bank Groups presence in the region
- Equity Bank Supreme Banking with the aim of targeting high networth individuals
- Launch of Equity Autobranch Master Card providing customers with a more secure option
- Planning and execution of communications strategies for Equity Bank Kenya and regional subsidiaries.
Impact:
- Conducted an application drive and Commissioned 2000 Wings to Fly beneficiaries
- Successfully led the launch of Equity Tanzania subsidiary
- Successfully Led the development and implementation of Equity Supreme branches branding and go to market plan
- Designed and launched the Equity bank Autobranch Mastercard through an Above the line advertising campaign
July, 2010- April, 2012Account ExecutiveGina Din Corporate CommunicationsMain Role: Gina Din Corporate Communications was Kenya’s leading corporate communications firm which has since been acquired by Edelman Global Communications. Their main goal was to provide clients with measurable,positive impact. As their Account Executive for the Safaricom account among others, i was involved in the following projects or tasks amongst others:
- Safaricom AGM where i was responsible for managing the event
- Safaricom Classical Fusion,where i was responsible for managing the event
- Safaricom Sponsorships & Foundation events where i was responsible for handling all event logistics countrywide
Impact:
- Successfully managed Safaricom AGMs with over 8,000 shareholders in attendance
- Successfully hosted over 2000 Kenyans at the Safaricom classical fusion events in Nairobi & Mombasa
