Community Development (Intern)
I have extensive experience in water and sanitation program implementation, particularly in the Lake Victoria Water and Sanitation program (LVWASTAN) Phase 1 and 2 in Kisumu town and its surrounding areas. This involved conducting community participation programs for traders in Maseno, Nyawiti, and Otongolo areas who were affected by the LVWASTAN project under Project Affected Persons (PAPS).
My role also encompassed crucial land acquisition negotiations, collaborating closely with county land offices and surveyors to secure the necessary land for project activities. Additionally, I played a pivotal role alongside land valuers in assessing the value of properties belonging to individuals affected by projects and addressing disruptions to businesses caused by project implementation.
My commitment to community engagement is evident in my diligent report-writing of community participation meetings, ensuring that community needs and recommendations are accurately reflected. Furthermore, my role as a liaison between the community, chiefs, and community leaders proved instrumental in resolving land disputes between organization water projects and landowners. This resulted in the development of amicable solutions and fair compensations for land acquired by the organization.
In addition to my community engagement efforts, I conducted valuable training sessions aimed at ensuring the sustainability of water projects handed over to the community. This emphasized the crucial aspects of water availability and reliability. Furthermore, my involvement in selecting community project committee members showcases my dedication to the effective operation and management of water kiosks within the community.
