Community Programs Intern, May, 2024-Present

PATH-Nuru ya Mtoto Project, Kakamega County.

Responsibilities include:

• Supporting the program officers and the M&E officers in the preparation of logistics for offsite activities such as meetings, trainings and workshops.
• Supporting in participant registration and verification during meetings, trainings, and workshops.
• Providing post activity support in the compilation of MPESA outputs for the program and M&E teams.
• Verifying of the activities to be in line with the approved WAR and budget.
• Accompanying the program officers in conducting SSV to facility and community sites.
• Participating in activities such as PPSGs, MDTs, and data review meetings at the site level.
• Documenting and reporting on weekly activities undertaken.

Nyabasi West Ward, Kuria East Sub-county

Responsibilities included:

• Conducting market activation and demand creation for market based sanitation products like Sato, taps,stools,pans,and reflexes.
• Assessment of community Health Committees (CHCs) in Nyabasi West Ward using KoboCollect.
• Designing monthly work plans and coordinating Binti Shupavu activities in Kemakoba Community unit.
• Providing support supervision for CHPs on SBCC on Menstrual Hygiene Management project in Kemakoba and Nyabikongori community units.
• Providing support supervision for CHPs on Community Case Management of malaria (CCMm) project by RAPADO.
• Organizing and conducting community dialogues and action days.
• Conducting monthly review meetings, compiling and submitting monthly reports on community activities in Kemakoba and Nyabikongori community units.
• Collected water and food samples for chemical and bacteriological analysis.
• Conducted training for community own resource persons (CORPs),CHPs,and CHCs on public health issues.

Kisumu County Referral Hospital

Reporting to the Public Health Student Supervisor for weekly placements, I performed the following duties and Responsibilities:

• Sensitized and mobilized local communities for COVID-19 testing and vaccination.
• Implemented international health regulations and rules at points of entry (POEs).
• Inspected springs and wells to ensure that they are properly protected and are safe sources of drinking water.
• Undertook inspection of commercial and trading premises and compiled reports to ensure compliance to set standards.
• Vetted and approved building plans.
• Followed up on proper collection and disposal of solid waste in markets and other dwelling premises in towns.
• Coordinated immunization programs.
• Carried out disease surveillance, prevention, and control.

Rongo Sub-County Hospital

Reporting to the Public Health Student Supervisor for weekly placements, I performed the following duties and responsibilities:

• Assessed health needs at the community through community diagnosis.
• Implemented sanitation and hygiene standards in the community.
• Sensitized the community on food and water safety measures.
• Issued intimation and statutory notices.
• Implemented vector, vermin, and rodent control measures in schools, residential buildings, and hospitals.
• Undertook inspection for commercial and trading premises for preventive maintenance of set standards.
