• Controlled and maintained auxiliary equipment such as centrifugal pumps, fans compressors condensers feedwaters heaters filters and chlorinators to supply water, fuel air and auxiliary power.
• Adjust controls to generate specified electrical power to regulate the flow of power between generating station and substation.
• Control generator output to match the phase frequency and voltage of electricity supplied to the panel.
• Make adjustment or minor repairs such as tightening leaking glands and pipe joints, report any need for major repairs.
• Monitor and inspect power plant equipment and indicators to detect evidence of operating problems.
• Open and close the valves and switches upon signal from other workers in order to start or shut down auxiliary units.
• Start or stop generators auxiliary equipment turbines and other power plant equipment and connect or disconnect equipment from circuits
• Resets tripped electric relays
• Operate controlled power generating equipment, including boilers turbines generators and reactors using control boards.
• Take readings from chart meters and gauges at established intervals to take corrective steps as necessary.
• Cleaned lubricate and maintained equipment such as generators, turbines pumps and compressors in order to prevent equipment failures
• Collects oil water and electrolytes samples for lab analysis
• Communicate with the system operators to regulate and coordinate transmission load and frequencies and line voltage.
• Examine and test the electrical power distribution machinery and equipment using testing devices
• Record and compile operational data, completing and maintaining forms, logs and reports.
