Simon Angoyia

I am a teacher with a passion for working with young people and promoting learning activities both indoors and outdoors. I have worked with young people in many multicultural settings. I am comfortable working with young people of varied abilities, including those with special needs.

I strive to design learning experiences that are practical and inquiry oriented. I motivate learners by providing tasks that foster cooperation, encourage them to reveal their need for assistance and take into account their individual learning difficulties. I also encourage them to recognize relationships, ask probing questions and articulate what they know through oral, written and behavioural means.

My teaching philosophy allows creativity and self- expression, through responsible self-control, self-direction and respect for others. I believe that all staff should work for student success by focusing on what the learners can achieve rather than their limitations. I also believe that curriculum leaders should involve all staff in the identification of emergent problems, diagnosis of their causes and design honest solutions for a modern classroom.

I find my strength in the long experience of working under different line managers with diverse leadership approaches. I am flexible, adaptable and open to new ideas. I have a passion for ICT and its capacity in promoting teaching and learning in my own classroom practice.

I have had various opportunities to lead professional development sessions in the area of teaching with digital technologies. In summary, my teaching philosophy is holistic and child-centred. I always want my students to feel valued, intelligent, trusted, safe and comfortable.

I always create an optimal and safe learning environment. I strive to ensure that my teaching meets the learners' individual needs and is inclusive enough to be accessible to all learners as well as metacognitive enough to stretch and challenge all learners’ imagination.
