Solomon Theuri

I am a diligent and driven Sonographer, currently situated in Kisumu, Kenya. With five years of hands-on experience in the field, I have actively contributed to various medical endeavors. Presently, I am engaged as a Sonographer for a study utilizing Phillips Lumify handheld Ultrasound technology. In 2019, I played a pivotal role in conducting the pilot study and was honored to be listed as a co-author for its subsequent publication.

Research Sonographer at Kenyatta University, Medtech (2026-03 – Present)

• Develop a Sonography SOP for the Obstetrics study
• Obtain informed consent for the pregnant mother to participate in the study
• Perform obstetrics scan for fetal biometrics and maternal pelvimetry
• Obtain quality images that inform the study

External lecturer at Kenya Medical and Training College (2025-05 – 2026-04)

• Delivered lectures and practical instruction in key medical imaging topics, including Radiographic Techniques, Image Processing, Radiation Physics, and Cross-Sectional Imaging
• Developed and implemented lesson plans in alignment with KMTC's curriculum and professional standards
• Ensured compliance with regulatory and safety standards in medical imaging training

Research Sonographer at Safe Water and Aids Project (2023-01 – Present)

• Perform abdominal ultrasound scans to assess liver morbidity resulting from schistosomiasis
• Obtain consent from the community for study participation
• Evaluate the degree of fibrosis, hepatomegaly (enlargement of the liver), and structural alterations in the urinary bladder and kidneys
• Monitor the advancement of schistosomiasis and gauge the effectiveness of treatment

Radio/sonographer at Radiant Group of Hospital (2021-07 – 2022-12)

• Fulfill the role of Head of Department (HOD) within the Department of Radiography, overseeing all ultrasound procedures, including Doppler ultrasound
• Conduct general X-rays utilizing CR X-ray technology
• Perform ECG examinations in the ICU

Radio/sonographer at Trinity Care Center (2020-09 – 2021-06)

• Perform all ultrasound procedures
• Conduct general X-rays using a darkroom
• Perform Intraoral periapical (IOPA) examinations
• Prepare reagents such as Developer and Fixer

Sonographer at Safe Water and AIDS Project (2019-06 – 2019-11)

• Provision of quality and accurate ultrasound images in line with MORBID study protocol and standard procedures
• Grading of liver fibrosis according to Niamey protocol in relation to Schistosomiasis
• Measurement of Liver, spleen, main portal vein and thickness of secondary order branches in all study participants
• Export images to back up hard drive via Picture Archive and Communication System (PACS)
• Performed other duties i.e. Kato Katz procedures
