Wanjiru Kamau

In the year 2011, I graduated from Centennial College, Scarborough, Ontario, Canada, with a diploma in food and nutrition management. I have over 10 years of experience in nutrition services. Over the years, I have worked both in a hospital setting and long-term care setting and have acquired ample skills and experiences that will be an asset to any nutrition services organization. The following are some of the skills I have acquired:

• I have acquired the ability to work well with others as well as independently
• Ability to work effectively and efficiently under pressure and in a fast pace setting
• Ability to speak three languages namely: English, Kiswahili and Gikuyu
• Proficiency in microsoft office:MS word, MS excel, MS powerpoowerpoint, MS outlook and email
• Ability to apply different nutrition systems and food ordering systems: point click care system, computrition, sysco and Gardon Food Services systems

Supervised production which included: food purchases, receiving, inventory control, follow-up of production sheets, and service of all meals and nourishments in the department as directed

• Ensured that the Dietary Department operated in compliance with provincial long-term care legislation related to dietary standards, as well as with other relevant legislation affecting the department, including residents’ bill of rights
• Interviewed new residents about their food preferences and other dietary concerns, then recorded their diet profile into point click care system to ensure that their dietary needs are met at all times
• Conducted daily inspection of the kitchen and serveries to identify and resolve problem issues
• Maintained all temperature sheets for all meals, refrigerators, freezer, and dish machines in order to ensure accurate temperature records
• Took meal orders from clients, and delivered the meals to respective residents
• Coordinated, planned, and implemented all catering requests and submitted catering cost reports to the Director of Administration and Food Service Manager
• Maintained compliance with the Ministry of Health and Longterm Care Services, including Corporate policy and procedures
