William Odhiambo Ramogi is an award-winning economist with 15 years’ experience in enterprise development, financial advisory, banking, financial inclusion, SME financing, insurance and investments. Currently is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Elim Capital Limited, a Nairobi based consulting firm.
William holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the University of Nairobi and is currently pursuing his Masters of Arts degree in Economics at Kenyatta University. He is well versed in entrepreneurship, economic analysis and investments.
He has worked with Barclays Bank of Kenya and British American Asset Managers prior to setting up Elim Capital. As the CEO of Elim, he has trained over two thousand entrepreneurs and business managers and has written over 200 published business articles and papers. Partnering with USAID, Africa Nazarene University and African Inland Missions, he has trained small scale business traders on financial management, marketing, business management, compliance and customer service.
William has been in consulting assignments with the European Union, International Labour Organisation, Aga Khan Foundation, Micro Enterprise Support Programme Trust in Kenya and DAI/USAID in Rwanda.
Professionally, William is the chair of the XBRL pioneering committee, a team of professionals working to launch digital financial reporting in the country using the XBRL technology.
He has been a market watcher for CNBC Africa, commenting on the local and regional economies and the stock market. He has also been a frequent commentator on BBC Africa, CITIZEN TV, K24, KTN, Power FM (SA), TV continental (Nigeria) among others. He has been a resident economic analyst on Bizchat Weekly by KTN News television network since 2021. Further, William has been a columnist with The Standard, commenting on national and regional economic developments. He also maintained columns with Forbes Africa, The Saturday Nation, Business Daily Africa, Nairobi Business Monthly among others. His columns cover finance, investments, entrepreneurship and economic commentary.
Currently, he is a resident economist with KTN News, conducting weekly interviews in the business today show.
In the community, William is a youth mentor who has worked in the expansive Kibera slums for over 14 years. Serving as the youth leader at Christ is the Answer Ministries Woodley, he mentored younger Christians, organized clean up outreaches in the community, led door to door evangelism drives and took up discipleship of a government run orphanage: Joseph Kangethe Children’s Home. He is a member of the CITAM Woodley Missions Team, has been a mentor and speaker with the African Youth Leadership Forum, Andishi Africa and SINAPIS Limited.
William was the chair of the management committee of a football club in Kibera Kibera Talents Football Club, which he led to victory in the FKF Nairobi League, and developed several nationally renowned footballers. Further he has been the chaplain of NPC Woodley Basketball team that won the 2016 NBA league in Nairobi and whose players have been MVPs for over 5 years.
