I am a Community health specialist with practical experience across Kenya with a passion about providing my expertise in solving the worlds’ community developmental issues. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in community health and development from Great Lakes University of Kisumu (GLUK), (Second class upper) and currently Masters in Public Health (MPH) on-going at the same institute. I also have certification in Project Development and management from Rehoboath College plus Public Relation Management from Daystar University, Nairobi, Kenya.
My pillars are involvement of stakeholders, Resource mobilization, access to technology and partnership. I am working with the Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) – Center for Global Health Research (CGHR) in Nairobi, as a Quality Control Team lead with the PBIDS (Population Based Infectious Disease Surveillance) Program. I work in global health because I would like to improve human health and quality of life through research.
My strength is conducting human health research including developing data collection tools and analysis and community mobilization.
I have achieved an extra mile award certificate from CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) and earned a promotion as a Quality Control/ Migration Officer in HDSS platform in Kibera.
I am equipped with skills in management, safety,marketing, operations, record keeping and report writing. I believe that I will add value to the organization given the fact that I possess the above mentioned skills and the following strengths; experience in management position, working in the field, presentation skills through managing various-; focused group discussion, marketing and networking.
I worked for Ghetto child programme as a Credit Officer and later as a Project officer Nairobi county, where I assisted the organization in managing the program that was targeting the underprivileged in the community by training, creating awareness on economic empowerment and selection, planning and management of income generating activities. We would then conduct follow up visits to find out whether they have formed groups, train them on groups saving and loan based on Grameen bank module and give the members loans after saving for 8 weeks.
On 24th June, 2006, I represented our Director by attending a National workshop on effect of micro-finance policies on technological capability of small and micro-enterprises held at Utalii hotel, Nairobi.
