About us
We’re looking for a Model-Based Systems Engineer to help shape the architecture and development of life-supporting medical systems for extracorporeal blood treatment and kidney function replacement.
You’ll work across physical systems, embedded software, and safety engineering — modeling system behavior, defining specifications, assessing feasibility, and analyzing risks to ensure safe, reliable, and high-performing medical devices.
Depending on your experience, your responsibilities will include:
- Translate medical and user needs into system, product, and component specifications, including HW/SW interface requirements.
- Develop physical models and perform system-level simulations using tools such as MATLAB/Simulink to evaluate physics, thermodynamics, and hydraulics.
- Develop, maintain, and refine embedded software and algorithms using C/C++ in Linux/Windows environments.
- Conduct concept studies, feasibility testing, and risk assessments in line with ISO 14971 to ensure functional safety.
- Support or lead system integration, developer testing, verification activities, and peer reviews of device functions.
- Maintain design history files and technical documentation in accordance with internal guidelines and standards such as IEC 60601 and IEC 62304.
What we are looking for
- University degree in Engineering, Physics, Medical Technology, Mechatronics, or a related field, with extensive experience in system/component development or verification and Requirements Engineering.
- Strong C/C++ programming skills, experience with embedded systems and Python for scripting.
- Knowledge of software testing methodologies and functional safety.
- Ability to understand and break down complex physical and digital system behaviors, make sound technical decisions, and work in a structured, results-oriented way.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary software, hardware, regulatory, and quality teams.
- Professional fluency in English, both written and spoken.
As advantage we will see
- Experience with MATLAB, Simulink, Simscape, Modelica, or other model-based development tools.
- Knowledge of fluidics, hydraulics, thermodynamics, or medical disinfection systems.
- Experience working in agile software development environments.
What we offer
- Health and accident insurance.
- Flexible working hours and additional time off.
- Learning budget, workshops and knowledge-sharing opportunities.
- Personal budget for sports and hobbies.
- Birthday gifts and other employee benefits.
- Loyalty rewards and employee referral bonuses.
- Team activities, company events and a friendly office environment.
- €3,200–€6,300 gross/month, depending on experience and competencies.
