1. Context and objectives of the engagement

Client in Luxembourg has launched a strategic program aimed at decommissioning its core banking system and modernizing its payment processing ecosystem.

As part of this transformation, several major initiatives are being implemented to evolve its technical foundation. In this context, Client wishes to leverage the Service Provider’s expertise in design and development.

The engagement consists of contributing to the following activities:

Development of an internal application dedicated to payment flow management, including:

• payment controls.
• compliance checks.
• exception management.
• alignment with SEPA Release 2026 (SR2026) requirements.
• migration to and compliance with ISO 20022 standards.
• system reliability and scalability improvements.
• production stabilization.

3. Remediation of vulnerabilities and obsolete components, including:

1. Development:

• Design and development of backend components using Java / Spring Boot
• Implementation of REST APIs and messaging flows (IBM MQ, JMS)
• Compliance with ISO 20022 message processing and XML standards
• Code development, maintenance, and related testing

2. Testing and Quality Assurance:

• Development and execution of unit and integration tests
• High code coverage (JUnit, JaCoCo)
• Non-regression and end-to-end testing
• Identification and correction of defects / bugs

3. Code Quality and Review:

• Code reviews and coding standards reviews using SonarQube, etc.

4. Documentation:

• Technical documentation (architecture, design, APIs)
• Updating API documentation through OpenAPI / Swagger
• Documentation of integration flows and interfaces

5. Production Support:

• Support and assistance for the payment processing chain
• Analysis and resolution of production incidents
• Analysis and resolution of payment issues (rejections, reconciliation breaks, etc.)
