Position: Dimensional Engineer / Geometer

Location: Barcelona, Spain

Industry: Automotive Tier 1 – Plastic Bumper Specialist

We are currently hiring a Dimensional Engineer (Geometer) for a leading Tier 1 automotive supplier specialized in plastic exterior components (bumpers), based in Barcelona, Spain.

This opportunity is open to candidates currently based in Mexico who are interested in developing their career internationally. The company provides relocation support and work visa sponsorship for selected candidates.

Mission of the Role:

Ensure the geometric and dimensional conformity of plastic components (bumpers), guaranteeing the correct definition, manufacturing and validation of control gauges, as well as compliance with tolerances and customer requirements from development phase until SOP (Start of Production).

Main Responsibilities:

Control Gauges Management

  • Prepare the initial Specs Book for RFQ and sourcing of control gauges.
  • Define technical specifications for dimensional control fixtures.
  • Validate gauge design and concept with the supplier and, when required, with the customer.
  • Ensure correct application of GD&T in gauge definition.
Construction Follow-up & Validation
  • Follow up technically during gauge manufacturing.
  • Report technical deviations and coordinate corrective actions.
  • Participate in final validation at supplier facilities.
  • Validate R&R (Repeatability & Reproducibility) studies for gauge approval.
  • Ensure compliance before release to Operative Phase (OP).
Geometric Engineering & Tolerance Analysis
  • Perform tolerance stack-up analysis.
  • Analyze dimensional deviations in injected plastic parts (bumpers and related components).
  • Work closely with Product Engineering, Tooling and Quality teams to optimize geometry.
  • Support dimensional validation activities for PPAP.

Technical Requirements:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or similar.
  • Experience in automotive field (preferably in exterior plastic components – bumpers).
Strong knowledge of:
  • GD&T
  • Tolerance analysis
  • CMM
  • MSA / R&R studies
  • Experience in validation and follow-up of control gauges.
  • Knowledge of IATF 16949 standards.
  • Technical English level (B1–B2) – communication with customers and suppliers.
