We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable backend services that power the company's genomics software platform. You'd work closely with product, data science, and DevOps teams to drive architectural decisions, implement robust APIs, and ensure high performance and reliability of core systems.

Job Responsibilities

Prefer a candidate who can lead backend system design for mission-critical services and data pipelines.

Integrate backend services with frontend interfaces and third-party systems via REST/GraphQL APIs

Write clean, testable, maintainable code with strong unit and integration tests

Participate in code reviews, design reviews, and architectural planning

Optimize performance and scalability — especially for data-intensive workloads

Own CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation strategies

Designing and implementing high-performance backend APIs and services

Building and scaling microservices in a distributed environment

Ensuring robustness, security, and observability of backend systems across teams on architecture, data modeling, and cloud infrastructure

TECH STACK

Cloud: AWS (core focus)

Containerization: Docker, Kubernetes (EKS)

Two of the following languages: Java, Python , GO or Bash

IaC: Terraform, CloudFormation

CI/CD: GitHub Actions, Jenkins, CircleCI

Databases: PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, Redis

Networking/Security: VPC, IAM, Security Groups, Vault,

OS/Runtime: Linux, Ubuntu, Amazon Linux
