Software Engineer L2 – Job Description

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Software Engineer to join our technology team and contribute to the design, development, testing, and maintenance of scalable and sustainable software solutions.

The Engineer will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to build high-quality applications, resolve technical challenges, and deliver reliable solutions that support business and customer needs. The role requires strong software development expertise, particularly in Java, AWS, and React, along with a solid understanding of modern cloud-native technologies and software engineering practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with software engineers and cross-functional teams on software design, development, and implementation.
• Participate in design discussions and contribute to software architecture and technical decisions.
• Conduct and participate in code reviews to ensure code quality, maintainability, performance, and adherence to best practices.
• Design, develop, test, debug, and maintain software applications and services.
• Troubleshoot engineering issues and collaborate with relevant teams to identify and resolve technical problems.
• Perform root cause analysis and implement effective solutions to prevent recurring issues.
• Create, evaluate, and contribute to detailed technical and feature designs.
• Develop and implement software solutions within an Agile/Scrum development environment.
• Apply secure coding practices and follow software security and system design fundamentals.
• Work with cloud-based technologies to develop scalable and reliable applications.
• Collaborate with team members to improve application performance, reliability, scalability, and maintainability.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to development processes, tools, and engineering practices.

Required Skills

• 3+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong proficiency in Java and object-oriented programming.
• Hands-on experience with AWS/cloud-based services.
• Experience with React and modern front-end development concepts.
• Strong understanding of software development lifecycle and Agile methodologies.
• Good understanding of RESTful APIs and system integrations.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative engineering team.

Nice-to-Have Skills

• Experience with Apache Kafka or other event-streaming technologies.
• Experience designing and developing RESTful services and APIs.
• Proficiency with containerization technologies such as Docker.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes and container orchestration.
• Experience with CI/CD methodologies and related tools.
• Experience with Git/GitHub and modern source-control practices.
• Experience with Python or other programming languages.
• Knowledge of cloud-native application development and distributed systems.
• Understanding of application security and secure coding practices.

Education

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Equivalent practical experience may be considered.

Preferred Candidate Profile The ideal candidate is a hands-on software engineer with strong Java and AWS experience, complemented by React/front-end development skills.
