Your Team Responsibilities
The 1MSCI Catalog team is responsible for building 1MSCI Data Catalog along with MSCI Data Marketplace and enabling a governed, scalable, and AI-ready data ecosystem. The team focuses on centralizing metadata, improving enterprise-wide data discoverability, and creating a foundation for agentic AI workflows that can intelligently access and utilize MSCI data. As part of a high-impact engineering team in Mumbai, you will help deliver next-generation catalog and marketplace capabilities that significantly improve data accessibility, reduce manual effort, and accelerate adoption of AI-driven use cases across MSCI’s product lines.Your Key Responsibilities
Design and develop scalable Java-based microservices and APIs for catalog and metadata-driven platform capabilitiesBuild and optimize Airflow DAGs for metadata ingestion, enrichment, and workflow orchestration at scaleImplement integrations with Collibra to enable consistent metadata governance, lineage, and catalog standardizationDevelop and enhance MCP tools and AI integration layers to enable intelligent and automated data discoveryLeverage Groovy and automation frameworks to improve efficiency of metadata processing and operational workflowsCollaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver MSCI Data Marketplace capabilities and drive adoption across business unitsBuild fault-tolerant, high-performance systems that improve metadata quality, data discoverability, and AI readiness across MSCI data assets Your skills and experience that will help you excelYour skills and experience that will help you excel
Required:- 5–8 years of software development experience with strong expertise in Java and backend service development
- Experience building and maintaining RESTful APIs and microservices architectures
- Hands-on experience with workflow orchestration tools such as Airflow for building scalable data pipelines
- Strong proficiency in SQL and working with modern data platforms
- Understanding of metadata management, data modeling, and data governance concepts
- Familiarity with scripting and automation using Groovy or similar technologies
- Experience with Git-based version control and collaborative development workflows
- Demonstrated ability to take ownership of end-to-end system design, development, and delivery
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on data quality, reliability, and scalability
- Experience working with data catalog or governance platforms (e.g., Collibra or similar tools)
- Exposure to AI/ML concepts, LLMs, or AI-assisted development tools and their application in data platforms
- Familiarity with agentic AI workflows, MCP tools, or AI-driven data discovery frameworks
- Experience with cloud platforms (Azure or GCP) and modern data infrastructure
- Understanding of data lineage, cataloging, and enterprise data governance practices
- Exposure to financial data, reference data, or market data ecosystems
- Experience building metadata-driven platforms, data catalogs, or self-service data discovery systems
