Senior Software Engineer (Java Backend)

Job Type: Full-time for 4 Months + Extensions

Location: Remote in Mexico

Compensation: $40,000 - $63,680.90 gross monthly pesos

Position Overview The Home Depot is seeking experienced Senior Software Engineers to join a high-impact engineering team focused on backend application development and cloud deployment initiatives. This role is 100% backend development and will be responsible for designing, building, and supporting scalable enterprise applications leveraging Java, Spring Boot, and modern deployment technologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-level backend applications using Java and Spring Boot.
• Build scalable microservices and RESTful APIs to support business-critical applications.
• Deploy and manage applications using Spinnaker and cloud-native CI/CD practices.
• Develop highly performant and reliable solutions integrated with Elastic/Elasticsearch technologies.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, product teams, and business stakeholders to deliver technical solutions.
• Participate in code reviews, technical design sessions, and application performance optimization efforts.
• Troubleshoot production issues and implement long-term solutions to improve stability and reliability.
• Contribute to best practices around software development, testing, deployment, and monitoring.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with Java development.
• Extensive experience building applications with Spring Boot.
• Experience developing and supporting microservices architectures.
• Experience with Spinnaker for application deployment and release management.
• Experience working with Elasticsearch/Elastic technologies.
• Strong understanding of REST APIs, distributed systems, and backend design patterns.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working within large enterprise environments.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
• Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning experience.
