Position details The Plant Manager role is responsible for planning, directing, and managing all aspects of plant operations. During a standard workday, the Plant Manager will oversee production activities, track performance metrics, address operational challenges, develop staff, and partner with senior leadership to execute business and operational strategies.
Duties and responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and manage the plant's day-to-day operations to ensure efficient workflow and productivity.
- Serve as the plant's primary operational leader, escalating complex issues to the General Manager as needed.
- Allocate labor, materials, and equipment effectively to maximize output and asset utilization.
- Partner with senior leadership to implement operational strategies aligned with company objectives. Page 2
- Monitor plant performance and implement corrective actions to address safety, quality, or efficiency concerns.
- Lead, hire, train, and develop production and maintenance teams, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Analyze production, labor, and operational data to identify waste, inefficiencies, or excessive overtime.
Ensure compliance with all company safety policies and regulatory requirements, promoting a strong safety-first culture.
- Use business and manufacturing systems to track metrics, set targets, and drive improvements in plant performance.
- Collaborate with Human Resources to address employee relations, staffing, performance management, and training needs.
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of plant and business operations. Required attributes and skills
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in manufacturing leadership or plant operations.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop teams in a production or industrial environment.
- Strong understanding of operational functions, including production, maintenance, finance, and workforce management.
- Proven experience driving process improvements and managing operations for maximum efficiency and productivity.
- Ability to adapt structures, processes, and priorities in response to changing business needs.
- Strong working knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry compliance standards.
- Experience using business and manufacturing management systems (e.g., SAP, ERP, CRM).
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and time-management skills.
- Results-oriented approach, with the ability to balance strategic planning and practical execution.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact at all levels of the organization.
