Investigation on Underwater Friction Stir Welding of 5052 Aluminium Alloy and Development of Models for Optimum Joint Strength
5052 aluminum alloy is one of the higher strength alloy that widely used in shipbuilding, marine applications, oil and gas industry and other common engineering industrial operations. It would be more significant to study the effect of weld parameters: type of welding tools, Weld Speed (WS) and Tool Rotation Speed (TRS) in underwater for obtaining joints with maximum strength of this material. The effect of process parameters on mechanical properties which influence the relationship between weld parameters and tensile strength was obtained by developing the mathematical model and Artificial Neural Network (ANN) using experimental data.
