I am currently employed by AIA as a Medical Underwriter and I’m based in Cyberjaya. AIA is the largest public-listed life insurance group in Asia Pacific.
My primary job responsibility is to review insurance applications that originated from AIA Hong Kong, covering Life, Health and Personal Accident policies. I assess the applicant’s suitability for insurance coverage based on several key criteria including medical/physical condition, occupational risks, finances and insurable interests. Depending on the result of my assessment, I would make a recommendation whether to accept or reject the application.
My eye for detail helps me to accurately identify and quantify the risks of these insurance applications, seeking to strike a fine balance between providing clients with fair insurance coverage and preventing financial loss for AIA. Additionally, my trait as a good team player allows me to have good communication and strong work relationship with my team members.
During my stint at AIA, I have gained valuable product knowledge about insurance, including the medical and financial aspects.
