I'm a radiographer currently working at university of Maiduguri Nigeria, I found the announcement of this role via Bebee page and was immediately excited by role to join the radiography team at ministry of health. Having studied your trust core values in detail, it is clear to me that the trust puts its patient first by providing highest quality of service care and this is something that is important to me as a radiographer. I also know that the ministry is also looking for a competent Radiographer that will work in accordance with the ministry and departmental policy, I resonate strongly with your core values.
My principles of being caring and compassionate make me go the extra mile in showing empathy and support to any patient I meet leaves hospital/department satisfied and fulfilled. I regard patients and colleagues with high esteem not minding our differences, I listen to patients' needs and welcome suggestions/views from team members. I understand the importance of teamwork and good working relationships, I appreciate how they affect the patient outcome; therefore, I strive to develop a good working relationship and maintain team spirit within a team by ensuring effective communication, honesty, collaboration, cooperation, coordination, accountability, and being adaptable and flexible to ensure smooth workflow.
I always take full responsibility for my actions and that of my team. Having looked closely at the person specification for this job, I meet them all. I have worked with University of Maiduguri as a lecturer for seven (7) years in Nigeria with demanding schedules in the course of my work and training, I also work as a clinical instructor for clinical students at university teaching hospital I confidently perform most radiographic procedures without supervision, In my current role, I have been teaching Radiographic techniques for more than 5 years.
Similarly, my experience in research would help deliver evidence-based care to patient. I am very enthusiastic in participating in research that would help broaden my knowledge, skills and contribute to knowledge.
For more than six years, as a lecturer, I actively participated in teaching and training Student Radiographers on clinical postings as well as interns on Compulsory Professional Development (CPD) programs organized by the Radiographers' Registration Board of Nigeria. Regularly, I participate in ensuring that radiographic examinations are done efficiently sticking to the best standards. I apply the Ionizing Radiation for Medical Exposures Regulations diligently to my work, ensuring that I identify my patients accurately, asking women of childbearing age about the possibility of their being pregnant before investigations, ensuring that radiation exposures are kept as low as reasonably practicable, justifying referrals to ensure their necessity and if alternative investigations should be carried out instead, applying careful technique, collimation, use of protective gear, etc.
I do this together with Senior Practitioners, Radiologists, and Referring Physicians.
