Aminu Suleiman

From rank of Second Lieutenant to Major in Nigerian Army, I held so many appointments both in the field and command respectively, I had over 22 years of military experience, training and operations on safety and security in the Nigerian Army. Notable among then are Intelligent officer/Platoon commander in 20 Battalion Nigerian Army ,Operations officer Joint task force Operation Niger Delta Operation, Operation Officer Special task force operation sector 3 in plateau state, officer in charge of Charlie company in 2 Battalion, Quick respond group commander joint task force operation in Kaduna, instructor in counter terrorist and counter insurgency centre, Operations officer 26 Task Force Brigade Northeast Nigeria Staff officer 1 grade 7 (Training) Army headquarters garrison and also Commanding officer 192 Battalion rear owode. These experiences have broadened my knowledge and also expose me more into safety and security institution, furthermore, i have used the opportunity to educate the community during peace and crisis in the remote area.

I have also shared the experiences and educate personnel whenever i am chanced and opportune.

I took part in so many seminars and workshop among which are, certificate in disarmament Demobilization and Reintegration at the Martin Luther Agwai International leadership and Peacekeeping Centre, so also i have certificate in conflict analysis and conflict resolution due to my contributions in institution of security corpus with my experience I was awarded a senior member in Disaster Management in Institute of Disaster Management Safety Science. All these experiences have afforded me ability to operate in safety and institution.

As a Senior Military Officer in the Nigerian Army, I was deployed as quick respond group commander from 2014 to 2016 in charge of Kaduna-Abuja expressway when the area was very volatile and the road, and the area become no good area to a lot of people, i make sure i sanitize the road and the general area. I make the road to be very free and safe for movement. Also, i was an operation officer, 26 Task Force Brigade from 2016 to 2018. I planned the operation and also lead the men to fight against terrorists, in so many occasions during the Chief of Army Staff Conference, i used to be appointed as secretary or member in security committee, i make sure that i contribute meaningfully to the security of the event during the conference or any other gathering. I have the idea on how to use security garget both in gathering and conferences.

I started my military career as officer cadet in 2001 at prestigious Nigerian Defence Academy Kaduna, the only premier university in west Africa as regular combatant cadet. I was in Abysinia Battalion in term one from 2001 where I worked hard and passed through both civil and military courses among which are military law, field craft, field training, signal communication, first aid, map reading, leadership and man management, driving and maintenance and physical training, etc.

After passing camp initial in term one, I was promoted to term two in the same battalion, due to my hard working as junior cadet, I was given a cadet Lance Corporal, I continue to trained and supervised my junior ones and short service cadet. After passing a last exercise First Camp highland, I was promoted to term three in 2003, after three months with my new rank, I was given a cadet corporal as I continue with my hard working and focusing both on academy and military courses.

After passing camp Kurata I was promoted to Term Four where I held several appointments among which are 2iC cross country, 2iC obstacle crossing, etc.

During the crossing country competitions, my battalion come first while the obstacle, battalion came second.

After going through a vigorous training and exercises, I was promoted to Fifth Term which is my last year of academy and military training, in fifth term, I was OIC of obstacle crossing, map reading, cross country among final year cadets. 

In year 2006, I was commissioned into the Nigerian Army as second lieutenant and was posted to Corp of infantry. As a second lieutenant I was posted to 20 Battalion from infantry Corp as platoon commander where I doubled task also run as intelligent officer. In 2007 I was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant due to my hard working and commitment in the system and was posted to 2 Battalion, Nigerian Army. I held several appointment among which are operation officer. I coordinated most operation in Joint Task Force operation II in Niger Delta, Nigeria.

Also Operation

Officer in sector 3 special task force operation Plateau State. Furthermore, I attended my young officer career course in May 2007, also basic airborne in June 2007. In Nov 2010, I attended Counter Terrorist Course, immediately after the course due to good performance, I was task to train Nigeria Civil Police on Counter Terrorist and Counter Insurgency Nigerian Army School of Armour Bauchi, Nigeria.

I was also promoted to the rank of Captain in the 2010. As a Captain I was appointed as quick respond group commander where I performed creditably in my career as captain. I was also officer in Charge (OC) of Charlie company 2 Battalion.

Also an OC in Dogon Dawa Birnin Gwari Local Government.

I attended Communication and Negotiation in Aug 2011, also Command and Staff Operational Skills Course, in July 2011, Armour Personnel Career Course in Mar 2013.

I was promoted to the rank of Major in 2014 where I also performed the roles second in command and also coordinate the training and exercise of the battalion.

In the cause of my career as a Major, I was posted to 13 Brigade as staff officer Grade III (training/operation). In year 2016 I was posted 26 Task Force Brigade as operation officer where I coordinate the activity of the brigade and battalion under the command and also assist the NCO and UN staff to achieve the success their operation. In 2018 I was posted Army Headquarters Garrison as staff officer Grade 7 (training), which I was coordinate the training and exercise of officers and soldiers of Army Headquarters and units within Federal Capital Territory.

I also coordinate the training principle staff officer of Chief of Army Staff bodyguard and security from 2018 to 2022 where I was posted to 192 Battalion Ogun State as Commanding Officer rear. 

During the cause of my career as Major, I attended several courses and seminar among which are Company commander course, May 2017, Disarmament Demobilization and Reintegration Course in March 2019, Post Blast Incidents and Recovery Course in August 2016 (British Army). I also attended leadership course in Counter Terrorism and Counter Violent Extremism Counter in August 2021.

I was also awarded a senior member of Institute of Disaster Management and Safety Science. Sept 2018.

And Associate member Certified Shipping practitioner in Nov 2011 and Member Nigerian Army Resource Centre in 2020.
