The Hiring Manager CARE International Sir/Madam, APPLICATION FOR THE POSITION OF LIVELIHOOD ASSISTAN

This position interests me because it provides me a platform to serve humanity at a higher level and to put the experience I have acquired in to use and it will also afford me the opportunity to learn from others, most importantly, it will also give me the opportunity to share my leadership experiences and ideas with other like-minds with the aim of innovating better livelihood and life transforming ideas and practices as it patens to livelihood and food security. I have work with Oxfam International for 5 years on a Livelihood and Economic Empowerment Project (LINE) in Bauchi. The project aims at empowering vulnerable farming households especially women and youth with agricultural support and developing their business and entrepreneurial skills through the establishment of farmers cooperatives and village savings and loan association (VSL). I train the beneficiaries on basic agricultural practices for the cultivation and development of value chains and value addition for self-sustenance, I also coordinate the distribution of inputs support and various trainings modules on agricultural best practices that is environmentally friendly and result in high yield. I train youths on small business development and maintain a relationship of trust with ‘gate keepers’ and relevant stockholders in the communities, local government extension agents and with partner organizations we support. We train the beneficiaries on income generating activities (IGAs) through the transformation of value chains to a more valuable marketable products. I have experience working as a Household Economic Strengthening officer for the USAID/STEER project which have given me the opportunity to be familiar with livelihood and economic strengthening and food security. I have experience in budget preparation monitoring and management at both project and activity level. During the project, I was privilege to attain capacity building trainings which have further equipped me for the advertised position. I form community coalition where I acquired knowledge on working with Women, youth, and children in both rural and urban areas. I computer literate and good with Microsoft word, power point, excel, and outlook. As a candidate, I could immediately bring the following characteristics to the table: Good team player with a strong analytical mind: In all the places I have had the opportunity of working, I actively contribute to the team in order to complete tasks, meet goals and manage projects effectively and efficiently. Listen to my coworkers ideas aiming to improve the team and the quality of service delivery. I showed my analytic thinking by identifying and defining problems, extracting key information from available data, and developing workable solutions for the problems identified to test and verify the cause of the problem and develop solutions to resolve the problems identified. Sensitivity in working with multiple cultures and beliefs, and to gender equity: I have always displayed a careful approach to my position at Oxfam in Nigeria due to the fact that the majority of the beneficiaries have a different faith and cultural beliefs than mine, where women are mostly not allowed to interact or relate with the opposite sex. Understanding this culture and believe, and with great community entry strategy I was able to gain their acceptance. Fast-paced perfectionist: Attention to detail have always helped me in discharging my task and responsibilities. I was challenged by being introduced to multiple tasks so I had to familiarize myself with the roles very quickly. As an analyst, I conducted an analysis of how literacy classes is necessary for women in saving groups. Through this analysis, I discovered that the women need to know basic calculations and writing to enable them in record keeping for the groups. I am now looking for an opportunity to further my personal development and career progression by Applying for the above subject Position.
