I am Onwughara Eric Okechukwu, A Nigerian practicing as a safety Manager with a decade of experience in safety in the oil and gas sector.

FIELD ASSIGNMENTS 

Include but not limited to the followings:

• Review the seismic contractor's HSE Management System Documentation / HSE Case / Job Safety Analysis (JSA) / Hazard Analysis / Project Specific HSE Manual.
• Design, planning, development, implementation and evaluation of occupational safety and health programs as well as HSE project for seismic operations, hazard and risk analysis techniques. incident investigation
• Communicate to the seismic contractor on various issues as per requirement and IAGC guidelines.
• Conduct start of survey HSE audit and inspection and scheduled HSE inspections.
• Endorse HSE acceptance prior to submission to Geophysical Consultant.
• Ensure implementation of preventive, risk reduction and recovery measures as identified in HSE Management System Documentation / HSE Case / Job Safety Analysis / Hazard Analysis / Project Specific HSE Manual.
• Analyze HSE statistics and provide recommendations to the Customer.
• Conduct scheduled meetings with the seismic contractor and provide assessment of HSE conditions.
• Review HSE guidelines where necessary with Geophysical QC Consultant and provide recommendations to the Customer
• Participate in HSE audits as directed by the Customer.
• Participate in incident investigation and prepare a report on the incident. Developing and implementing systems for managing health, safety & environment (HSE)
• To lead and drive a common and consistent risk based HSE culture throughout the project in relation to critical activities, and facilitating HSE management with all involved stakeholders
• Capable of conducting site safety surveillance and identifying potentially hazardous situations and initiate means to rectify the same
• Knowledge of different issues concerning HSE practices in Oil and Gas industry, preferably related to drilling and seismic survey operations
• Conversant with various kinds of Safety equipment
• Effectively implementation of PPE’s (Personal protective items) system

Secondary activities

• 1. Giving support, advice and practical assistance to Crew Management on the implementation of the Safety Management System and associated practices and procedures.
• 2. To give support, advice and practical assistance to Crew Management on the generation, implementation, updating and monitoring of Crew Safety Case with particular emphasis on assisting with risk assessments.
• 3. To collate and transmit statistics and minutes and other safety correspondence and information and disseminate such information to Client Operations Management, Supervision and Field Personnel.
• 4. To provide a focal point at Crew Level for the co-ordination of training programme.
• 5. To assist in the investigation of accidents and participate in Audit and Safety Meeting programme to monitor the follow up of remedial actions and suggest remedial actions as required.
• 6. To assist in planning for Health and Safety at Crew level and set short term and long term objectives priorities and performance standards.
• 7. To implement programmes and encourage and increase understanding and awareness of health, Safety and Environmental matters amongst all staff.
• 8. To develop and monitor the implementation of suitable emergency procedures and contingency plans, and to review their effectiveness through exercises and drills.
• 9. To ensure through Audits and Inspections the conditions and fitness for purpose of any equipment supplied to crew for safety purposes.
