The zeal for growth and self-improvement has been my driving force in life. Hence, in all of my life endeavors, I ensure to monitor my actions to make sure that my choices align with my goals. This desire to achieve alignment and to ensure that my actions can contribute to achieving goals and tracking progress on a larger scale has been the pillar behind my decision to embark on a career in Accounting, Office Administration and Finance Management.
With this in mind, I hereby apply for the role of a Finance Intern at International Rescue Mission, Abuja, I have obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy and have over 3 years’ experience in teaching, administrative and accounting procedures as related to national NGOs and private practices.
In my current role as a Finance Assistant at Creeds Energy, Abuja, I prepare day-to-day bookkeeping and record transactions in QuickBooks. I also file monthly and annual returns with the relevant tax authority, prepare month end bank and cash reconciliation, support with the reconciliation of receivables from clients, prepare payment vouchers and review travel expenditure reports for accuracy and completeness, manage petty cash for the office, manage payables and receivables.
In my previous role as Administrative and Finance Support at GDSquare Network Limited, Abuja, I reviewed supporting documents to ensure completeness and correctness before any payment is made, prepared monthly financial forecasts/cash flow needs and report. I also managed petty cash, petty cash log, reconciling advances to staff and timely liquidation, kept an updated record of the organization’s expenditures. In addition, I maintained a good and accessible filing system for the organization both online and offline, maintained an inventory register and an efficient record/storage of all office supplies and fixed assets monthly.
I recorded and circulated minutes of staff meetings, scanned financial vouchers on monthly basis.
Prior to my aforementioned role, I worked at Aure’s Professional Cleaning Services as an Administrative and Financial Accountant where I developed and maintained a good and accessible filing system for the organization and prepared official schedules for clients’ appointments in order to ensure for timeliness. I also developed an inventory register and kept a record of all office supplies, recorded and circulated meeting minutes, ensured for completeness and correctness of documents before any payment is made and kept an updated record of the organization’s financial expenditures.
In the position of a Finance Intern at International Rescue Mission, Abuja, I will apply the principles of Accounting, Office Administration and Finance Management as well as my experience in working at an NGO to my work to support programme implementation that is consistent with the organization’s objectives. I am also very knowledgeable in the use of Microsoft office products (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and well-grounded in office organizational and interpersonal skills.
