Yakub Ibrahim Abdul

I am a medical doctor with vast experience in maternal and child health. Having trained at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, I have been well grounded in knowledge and a considerable amount of clinical experience. I have been managing projects implementation and supervising robust multi-dimensional Health Program and conducting health project assessments since 2024, a result driven and oriented person with strong desire for child health and nutrition.

I use my clinical skills to support the Health Care Setting in the camps and residence in Borno state during medical caravan outreaches. I am creative and innovative in thinking beyond expected range in program management, with good team spirit, capacity building skill, addressing challenges and conflict, with good leadership skills; fluent in English and Hausa.

• Provide clinical management of suspected and confirmed cholera cases in accordance with standard treatment protocols.
• Conduct patient triage, assess dehydration status, and initiate appropriate oral and intravenous rehydration therapy.
• Manage cholera-related complications, including severe dehydration, shock, electrolyte imbalance, and acute kidney injury.
• Prescribe and monitor medications, including antibiotics when indicated.
• Supervise nursing staff and ensure adherence to cholera case management and infection prevention and control (IPC) protocols.
• Perform daily patient reviews, monitor treatment outcomes, and adjust management plans accordingly.

Medical Doctor Intern - Federal Teaching Hospital Gombe - Gombe

• Obtained basic professional (ethical and clinical) skills as required for full registration and licensing by the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN).
• Participated actively with several presentations in ward/academic rounds, and clinical seminar sessions.
• Assisted and performed surgical procedures under the supervision of highly skilled consultants and senior medical officers.
• Attended to several pediatric emergencies, admitting, stabilizing and onward inpatient management as the first-on-call.

• Conduct daily ward rounds with nurses and nutrition staff to assess, monitor, and manage severely malnourished (SAM) patients admitted to the Stabilization Center.
• Provide comprehensive clinical management of SAM cases in line with CMAM protocols and national treatment guidelines.
• Receive and ensure proper execution of clinical handover reports to maintain continuity of care across shifts.
• Lead emergency care and stabilization of critically ill patients, including resuscitation and management of life-threatening complications.
• Perform essential clinical procedures such as blood sampling, IV cannulation, and administration of intravenous medications.
• Ensure strict adherence to admission, treatment, transfer, and discharge criteria for SAM patients.

• Support data collection, analysis, and reporting for program monitoring, evaluation, and donor reporting requirements.
• Maintain respectful, dignified, and patient-centered care for all patients and caregivers at all times.
• Liaise with Ministry of Health and relevant stakeholders to support coordination and effective implementation of nutrition services.
• Supervise staff scheduling and workload distribution to ensure continuous and efficient service delivery.
• Participate in clinical and program review meetings and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
• Report clinical, logistical, and operational issues promptly to the Nutrition Manager or Project Coordinator.
