DevOps (Test) Engineer | Python, PySpark & Airflow | Transaction Monitoring

Help fight money laundering and terrorist financing with better engineering. At one of the Netherlands’ largest banks, a data-driven Transaction Monitoring solution analyses more than 11 million transactions every day to spot potentially suspicious customer behaviour. As DevOps (Test) Engineer, you’ll make delivering changes to that platform simpler, safer, faster and more automated.

Your first goal: shorten the release cycle from weeks to days, by improving and automating the testing process. It’s a hands-on engineering role (not a traditional tester role) in a squad that works closely with the test lead, other engineers and stakeholders.

About the role

You’ll join the Platform Enablement squad within the Transaction Monitoring Detection area, improving the engineering and DevOps landscape behind the solution. As the platform expands from the Netherlands to additional jurisdictions, simply running more test scenarios is no longer sustainable, so you’ll build a smarter way to test. You will:

• Help shorten the release cycle from weeks to days by improving and implementing changes in the testing and delivery process
• Optimise and automate test processes, so engineers can make deliberate choices about test coverage while execution times stay manageable as the platform grows
• Build a way to run tests more granularly, using Python and PySpark to write proper test logic for dataframes
• Connect end-to-end test execution to Airflow, making the test setup more production-like
• Work with engineers and stakeholders to understand platform changes and determine their impact on the testing approach
• Translate complex stakeholder requirements into an automated solution

Who are you?

• At least 3 years of professional experience as a DevOps or software engineer, with a strong engineering mindset
• Good Python development skills, including solid working experience with a Python API such as PySpark, and experience building maintainable automation
• Experience with (test) automation and end-to-end testing
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines; Airflow or Azure DevOps preferred
• Strong systems-thinking and problem-solving skills, able to understand dependencies across a complex technical landscape
• A pragmatic, collaborative approach: comfortable with requirements that aren’t fully defined, and working with different stakeholders to turn them into working solutions
