Java Software Engineer

Platform Engineer – Java / Integration / DevOps - Up to €180,000 per year inc. 8% Holiday Allowance.

For an established organisation in the Amsterdam area, I’m looking for an experienced Platform Engineer to strengthen a team responsible for a highly critical integration platform.

The platform supports the exchange of messages and events between multiple internal applications and external systems. You will work across the platform rather than focusing on individual integrations, with a strong focus on reliability, scalability, performance and continuous improvement.

Your responsibilities

• Take ownership of the reliability and scalability of the integration platform
• Lead complex technical troubleshooting and optimisation activities
• Design and maintain highly available platform solutions
• Drive platform-wide improvements from design through implementation
• Coordinate larger technical initiatives such as migrations and deployment improvements
• Improve CI/CD, automation and deployment processes
• Implement and improve monitoring and observability across the platform
• Work closely with engineers and other technical stakeholders to improve the overall platform landscape

Your experience

You have solid experience working as a Platform Engineer, Integration Engineer, DevOps Engineer or in a similar technical role. You bring experience with several of the following:

• Java-based integrations
• Quarkus and/or Apache Camel
• Kafka and/or AMQ
• Event-driven architecture and messaging
• OpenShift, Docker and/or AKS
• Linux environments
• RHEL and/or NGINX
• GitHub
• Argo CD
• Ansible
• CI/CD and automation
• Monitoring and observability

You are comfortable working on complex technical environments and can move between hands-on engineering, troubleshooting and broader platform-level improvements.

• Good understanding of performance, scalability and maintainability
• Comfortable taking the lead on complex technical initiatives
• Able to challenge existing solutions and propose practical improvements
• Strong communication skills in English

Location: Amsterdam area

Hybrid: 2 days per week onsite

Availability: ASAP

Hours: 36 per week
