Job Description – Python Backend Engineer

Location: Amsterdam (Hybrid)

Position Overview

My client is seeking a talented Python Backend Engineer with strong fintech experience to join our growing engineering team. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of professional experience in backend development, excellent Python skills, and advanced SQL knowledge. This is a hybrid role based in Amsterdam, offering the opportunity to work on complex, scalable financial systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs using Python.
• Write efficient, scalable, and secure SQL queries and optimize database performance.
• Collaborate with product, frontend, and data teams to deliver high-quality fintech solutions.
• Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Ensure backend systems are robust, maintainable, and follow best practices for security and compliance.
• Troubleshoot and resolve performance issues and bugs in production systems.
• Contribute to technical documentation and support knowledge sharing within the team.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional experience in backend development with Python.
• Strong SQL skills and experience working with relational databases.
• Previous experience in fintech or financial services is required.
• Familiarity with RESTful APIs, microservices, and Linux experience
• Experience with version control and CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a hybrid team environment.
