This Is What Your Role Looks Like

As a Senior Backend Developer, you're not just shipping features off a roadmap. You're a pivotal engineer who shapes how the team works, raises the bar on quality, and helps define our long-term engineering direction. You'll be working in Tilburg alongside a talented mix of React (Native) developers, Node.js developers, Product Owners, Designers, QA Engineers — and even a Talent Coach dedicated to your personal growth.

Your responsibilities will be

• Building and maintaining APIs that handle millions of requests without breaking a sweat
• Defining Service Level Objectives for the APIs and systems in our platform
• Driving structural improvements to work towards those objectives
• Supporting teams with documentation, architectural design, and tackling complex bugs
• Co-shaping the long-term engineering roadmap — you have a real say in what we invest in
• Co-owning non-functional topics like security, privacy, and performance
• Being a key driver in how we adopt AI in our development process (no prior experience needed — just curiosity and enthusiasm)

Your tech stack:

We build our applications with React, TypeScript, Tailwind, Storybook, Service Workers, Next.js and Playwright. Our APIs run on Nest.js, TypeScript, Prisma, Postgres, Redis, Azure EventGrid and Azure ServiceBus. To keep everything running, we use Heroku, Azure DevOps, New Relic, Akamai and GitHub Copilot.

Who Are You?

You're a problem solver at heart, with software as your weapon of choice. You understand that making real impact requires collaboration — you're not afraid to knock on doors to get things done. Scale and complexity don't intimidate you; they motivate you.

Additionally, we're looking for someone who:

• Has demonstrated experience with at least part of our tech stack and loves sharing that knowledge
• Understands how to manage risk and isn't shy about taking ownership
• Thrives in a fast-moving environment where unnecessary rituals are kept to a minimum
• Is eager to explore AI tooling in the development process
• Is eligible to work in the Netherlands (we don't sponsor new work visas, but existing sponsorships can be transferred)
