I studied English Language and Literature at the Aristotle University of Thesssaloniki. The departments that make up the programme (language, theoretical and applied linguistics, English and American literature, translation, intercultural studies, and teaching), have equipped me to teach English in a well- rounded way. Furthermore, they have provided me with a deep understanding of how languages work and how language and culture are intertwined, which is a crucial step in the process of becoming a better teacher.
After finishing my BA, I enrolled in a School Psychology Seminar, to better understand what some of my students may be going through and how to best help them deal with it. Moreover, through this seminar I delved deeper into how to better deal with students with special learning needs, which has been more than useful in my years of teaching. Along with that, I was also enrolled in a Seminar about teaching students with a migratory background and refugees.
Through that course, I better understood how to handle multicultural classes and always making sure every student feels respected and safe, something that is of the utmost importance for me. These two seminars have proved to be invaluable assets in my perpetual journey to improve my teaching methods and practices.
I have been teaching students from all over the world, for many years through online teaching platforms, successfully tailoring each lesson to the student's needs and learning goals. I have taught conversational and business English to adults and prepared learners for written proficiency exams with an immaculate track record. Apart from one-on-one lessons, I have worked in Language Schools for three years, handling large classrooms (20 students), creating engaging lessons that ensure student participation.
My teaching approach is focused on creating an interactive learning environment as I believe that students who are encouraged to explore their creativity and own their learning, will develop a deep love for languages that will fuel their academic success.
