• Separated webhook handling from AI processing for better reliability and scalability.

Co-founded and built an MVP restaurant management system with a backoffice, floor plan builder, menu builder and mobile app prototype.

• Built a Turborepo monorepo across React Native, Next.js, shared packages, and type-safe tRPC APIs.
• Designed and implemented a performant custom floor plan builder with complex client-side state management.
• Uploaded floor plan snapshots to S3 for use in the mobile app, allowing waiting staff to select tables visually.

Freelance Software Engineer & Team Captain at Talpa eCommerce (2022-01 – 2024-12)

Worked on auction platforms including vakantieveilingen.nl and slajeslag.nl, serving 3M+ registered users and 5–8k concurrent users during peak hours. Frontend performance and gateway stability were critical.

• Championed a 6-month strict typing migration in the NestJS gateway, reducing the risk of broken API contracts.
• Acted as a main technical contact for other teams around API changes, debugging, and gateway behavior.
• Partnered with the team lead on direction, interviews, meetings, mentoring and company-wide updates.

Worked on a virtual hospital platform connecting primary care professionals with specialists. Built features across a React, Express and PostgreSQL platform, and an Electron desktop app connecting it to medical hardware.

• Worked in a privacy-, security-, and reliability-critical healthcare environment.
• Implemented flows connecting service desk and tech teams for bug reports and service requests.
• Trained 40+ people across departments and regularly presented sprint demo work.

Performed ongoing code review work for a TypeScript React/Express codebase, focusing on correctness, maintainability, architecture, and developer experience.

Freelance AI Engineer at Nivel (2020-01 – 2020-12)

Built a Windows/macOS machine learning tool in Python/PyTorch using BERTje to classify scraped Dutch GP website text into topic categories. The tool was successfully used to find websites that needed improved COVID information.
