Job description
- *Summary**
This role forms part of the Infrastructure and Engineering function and works closely with internal teams, clients, and stakeholders to design, build, deploy, automate, and maintain cloud-based platforms and environments that support customer-facing and internal solutions.
This role is based in Auckland, and requires you to work Monday - Friday, from 8.30am - 5.00pm, a total of 40 hours per week.
- *Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate collaboration, integration, and automation between development, data, and operations teams to improve system reliability, efficiency, and delivery outcomes.
- Design, build, deploy, and maintain scalable cloud-based platforms and environments using technologies such as AWS, Azure, GCP, Kubernetes, Docker, and Infrastructure-as-Code tools.
- Write, review, and maintain application code, scripts, and configuration artefacts in line with software engineering best practices.
- Identify and resolve defects, performance issues, and technical limitations in software applications.
- Participate in code reviews, testing activities, and quality assurance to ensure software reliability and performance.
- Develop, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate build, test, integration, and deployment processes.
- Automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration, and deployment using Infrastructure-as-Code technologies such as Terraform, ARM Templates, CloudFormation, or Pulumi.
- Implement and manage containerisation and orchestration platforms to support consistent and repeatable application deployments.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve issues related to applications, infrastructure, pipelines, and deployments to ensure platform stability and performance.
- Conduct performance monitoring, logging, and alerting to identify issues, optimise system performance, and support continuous improvement.
- Support the delivery of proof-of-concepts, prototypes, non-production, and production environments in line with operational requirements.
- Apply security, reliability, and operational best practices across the software development and deployment lifecycle.
- Provide technical input and engineering guidance to support solution design and platform decisions based on industry standards.
- Prepare technical documentation, operational procedures, and contribution to solution option papers where required.
- Participate as an integral member of delivery teams supporting both customer-facing and internal projects.
- Ensure all work complies with legislative requirements, company policies, and health and safety obligations.
- Maintain an active commitment to workplace health and safety.
- Have active involvement in health and safety in the workplace.
- *Key Requirements:
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience in software development, DevOps, or cloud engineering roles.
- At least 3 years of hands-on DevOps or platform engineering experience, including CI/CD and automation.
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT, or Computer Systems Engineering.
- Demonstrated experience designing, developing, testing, and maintaining software applications or services.
- Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
- Demonstrated experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
- Proficiency in Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform, ARM Templates, CloudFormation, or Pulumi.
- Experience with containerisation and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes (AKS, EKS, or GKE).
- Experience troubleshooting and resolving issues across software code, infrastructure, and deployment pipelines.
- Experience monitoring system performance and implementing improvements.
- Working knowledge of relational and non-relational database systems.
- Strong collaboration skills with development teams, clients, and stakeholders.
- Ability to adapt to new tools and technologies and work in a technology-agnostic manner.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including technical documentation.
- A continuous learning mindset with an interest in DevOps practices and emerging technologies.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented and client-focused environment.
- Must be based in New Zealand and available to travel to customer sites on an as-needed basis.
- Azure and/or AWS certification is preferred.
