SMEC (An SJ Group Company)The role involves preparing accurate engineering CAD (2D/3D) drawings and ensuring their timely completion for all assigned projects. It includes planning, organizing, and managing all CAD documentation and files while strictly following company standards and procedures. The position requires close coordination with the Design Engineer and CAD Manager to clarify design intent, verify details, incorporate revisions, and ensure that drawings are based on the most current data.
Additionally, the role entails checking, auditing, and validating drawings—including work done by other CAD specialists—to maintain quality, accuracy, and completeness.
Prepare engineering CAD drawings.
Responsible for the timely completion of CAD drawings for all assigned projects.
In-charge of all CAD project documentation (both soft and hard copies) for reference and future use.Carefully study the design sketches, notes and other relevant material received from the design engineer / Cad Manager and carry out all instructions given.
Bring to the Design Engineer's attention any item that is not clear, does not seem to be correct or is worthy of discussion.
Plan the design drawings by determining what details and information need to be placed on each sheet, the scale to be used, the number of sheets required and the sequence of the sheets.
Discuss this with the CAD Manager and get approval.
Ensure the latest road alignment / 3D model etc. is being used as a base for developing the drawings.
When necessary, prepare sketches and computations to accurately draw and place details and other information on the drawings. Keep this information for future reference.
Maintain a CAD file for storing all check prints and drawings issued for a design lot, in chronological order.After the drawings have been completed, print a hardcopy and check all dimensions, chainages, elevations, sections and details for accuracy.
When satisfied print a hardcopy to be used as design check print by the Design Engineer.Give relevant check prints to the Design Engineer and CAD Manager along with all pertinent data necessary to perform a comprehensive check.
After completion of checking receive marked-up check prints indicating possible corrections, deletions or additions, verify the corrections and changes indicated on the check prints and bring to the Design Engineer's and CAD Manager's attention any item that is not clear or is worthy of discussion.
Make the agreed changes to the original drawings.
Follow all CAD procedures and standards as issued by SMEC.
Check, verify and ensure works done by the other CAD Specialist are in accordance with SMEC standards.
Perform drawing audits on registry, xrefs and final drawing sheets.
Perform other tasks that may be assigned from time to time.
College level, Civil Engineering graduate preferred
Preferably 3-5 years' experience in infrastructure projects (roads, bridges, viaduct)
Proven advanced level of analytical skills
Proficiency with AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil3D, Revit experience preferred
Understanding of DPWH drawing standards
