Software Engineer (Java & PL/SQL)

Location- Philippines

Duration: 12 Months and renewable contract.

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Software Engineer (Java & PL/SQL) to design, develop, and maintain high-performance enterprise applications. In this role, you will bridge the gap between robust backend Java services and complex database operations. You will be responsible for building scalable RESTful APIs, writing optimized PL/SQL routines, tuning database performance, and ensuring seamless integration across core business systems.

Key Responsibilities

Backend & API Development (Java)

• Design, build, and maintain high-performance, reusable, and reliable Java code using Core Java (8/11/17) and Spring Boot.
• Develop, test, and deploy scalable RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Integrate Java applications with Oracle database systems using frameworks like Spring Data JPA, Hibernate, or JDBC/MyBatis.
• Write unit, integration, and performance tests using JUnit, Mockito, or automated testing frameworks.

Database Engineering & Development (PL/SQL)

• Design and implement complex database architectures, schemas, tables, views, and indexes in Oracle Database (11g/12c/19c/21c).
• Write complex, high-throughput Stored Procedures, Functions, Packages, Triggers, and Database Links.
• Handle batch processing, bulk data manipulation (FORALL, BULK COLLECT), and dynamic SQL execution.
• Optimize heavy queries, perform SQL tuning, analyze execution plans (EXPLAIN PLAN), and troubleshoot database performance bottlenecks.

Technical Skills

• Java Stack: Strong experience with Core Java (OOPs, Multithreading, Collections, Stream API), Spring Framework (Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Data JPA/JDBC), and Maven/Gradle.
• Database & PL/SQL: Deep knowledge of Oracle SQL and PL/SQL programming, including cursor management, exception handling, dynamic SQL, bulk binding, and partition management.

Soft Skills & Methodology

• Experience: [3-6+ years] of hands-on experience in software development combining Java and Oracle PL/SQL.
• Agile: Strong experience working within Agile/Scrum environments using Jira/Confluence.
• Problem Solving: Excellent analytical skills to debug complex database lockups, memory leaks, or execution bottlenecks.
• Communication: Ability to articulate technical trade-offs between processing logic in the database vs. application tier.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Oracle WebLogic, Tomcat, or WildFly application servers.
• Experience with messaging queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ, JMS).
• Knowledge of Oracle APEX or Unix/Linux shell scripting.
• Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) PL/SQL Developer or Java SE Developer certification.
