Role Description

We're looking for a mid-level Web Developer to join our IT team, working on our e-commerce platform's backend and web-facing features. You'll work within our existing PHP codebase, collaborating with the team to build, maintain, and improve features that serve our customers directly.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of professional experience developing with PHP
• Solid understanding of relational databases (MySQL/MariaDB) — schema design, query optimization
• Experience with Git for version control
• Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
• Familiarity with Linux-based server environments
• Understanding of core web concepts: HTTP, sessions, authentication, security basics (XSS, SQL injection prevention, etc.)
• Ability to read and work within an existing large codebase, following established patterns
• Hands-on experience using AI-assisted coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or similar (e.g., for code generation,

refactoring, debugging, or review)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Docker and containerized development environments
• Experience with nginx configuration
• Familiarity with e-commerce platforms or high-traffic web applications
• Experience working in a team using code review processes

Nice to Have

• Experience with performance optimization and debugging in production systems
• Familiarity with logging/monitoring tools

• - Exposure to REST API design and integration

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain features across our PHP-based web application
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested PHP code following existing project conventions
• Work with MySQL/MariaDB databases — writing efficient queries, contributing to schema changes
• Debug and resolve issues in production and staging environments
• Collaborate with other developers on code reviews and shared codebase standards
• Work with Docker-based local development environments and nginx configuration
• Contribute to both frontend (HTML/CSS/JavaScript) and backend logic as needed
• Participate in planning discussions and provide input on technical approach
• Write and maintain documentation for features you build
• Use AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude, Cursor) to accelerate coding, debugging, and code review workflows
