I am currently taking up Doctor of Philosophy in Applied Linguistics at the De La Salle University-Manila, where I also earned a Master of Arts degree in Teaching the English Language with a 3.80 over 4.00 GPA. Prior to that, I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in English and graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Polytechnic University of the Philippines.
I have years of teaching experience with both local and foreign students in various academic settings. I taught English college courses in a number of universities and local higher education institutions, including the De La Salle University and the National University in Manila. Prior to that, I served as ESL (English as a Second Language) Department Head at the I Can Academy where I designed ESL curricula, which include teaching-learning and assessment materials for Korean ESL students.
At the same time, I worked with Smarthinking via Netsourcephil Incorporated as a Writing Consultant for both American and Australian students. Finally, I was involved in various research and training on language teaching before finally becoming a curriculum specialist in English for the Department of Education Central Office.
As part of the DepEd-Bureau of Curriculum Development, the nature of my work involves crafting the national curriculum framework, standards and policies, and managing and providing technical assistance in various programs such as capacity-building of teachers and development of learners’ materials. Currently, I serve as the Supervising Education Program Specialist for English and Mother Tongue.
My experience and knowledge have molded me to become a versatile educator – a very important attribute as a teacher is exposed to a number of different learners with different personalities and learning needs. I believe that these, along with my personal ethics, provide additional value not only to my future workplace, but more so to its students.
