Backend Engineer (Node.js / Python)

About The Role

You'll build the service and data layer behind client products — API design, database schema, background jobs, and the observability that keeps all of it debuggable in production.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement REST and GraphQL APIs against a documented contract
• Model relational data with PostgreSQL, including constraints and migrations
• Build background job and queueing systems for anything that shouldn't block a request
• Write tests around core business logic before it ships
• Wire up structured logging and error tracking for every service you build

What you'll work on

• Service-oriented backends for SaaS and marketplace products
• Data migrations and integrity work on existing client systems
• Internal admin tooling that sits on top of the same core services

Required Skills

• 3+ years professional experience with Node.js or Python in production
• Solid understanding of relational database design (PostgreSQL preferred)
• Experience designing and documenting APIs consumed by a separate frontend team
• Comfort with Docker for local development and deployment

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Redis for caching or queueing
• Exposure to GraphQL schema design
• Familiarity with message queues (SQS, RabbitMQ)
