Senior Software Engineer - Full Stack Java & React

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and hands-on Senior Software Engineer – Full Stack Java & React to join the modernization team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in enterprise Java application development, modern React-based frontend development, Oracle databases, and API-driven architectures.

The candidate will actively participate in modernizing a large-scale Hospital Management System that has evolved over more than 20 years, helping transition legacy components into a modern, scalable, maintainable, and secure architecture.

Key Responsibilities

Full Stack Application Development

• Design, develop, test, and maintain enterprise-grade applications using Java, Spring Boot, React, and modern web technologies.
• Develop responsive and user-friendly interfaces using React.js, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS.
• Build and maintain backend services, REST APIs, and business components using Java and Spring Framework.
• Implement clean, reusable, and well-documented code following established architectural standards and best practices.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to improving overall code quality.

Legacy Application Modernization

• Analyse existing legacy code and participate in migration and refactoring efforts.
• Convert legacy UI components into modern React-based interfaces.
• Support browser modernization and removal of obsolete browser dependencies.
• Upgrade and replace outdated libraries and frameworks while ensuring backward compatibility where required.
• Identify technical debt and recommend practical improvements.

Database Development & Integration

• Develop and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and database components using Oracle Database and PL/SQL.
• Design and consume RESTful APIs and integrate with internal and external systems.
• Assist in performance tuning of application and database components.

Quality Engineering & DevOps Practices

• Write unit tests and participate in integration and automated testing.
• Use Git-based workflows, including branching strategies, pull requests, and peer reviews.
• Participate in CI/CD processes and deployment activities.
• Follow secure coding standards and software development best practices.

AI-Assisted Software Development

• Effectively utilize modern AI development tools for code generation, refactoring, debugging, documentation, and test creation.
• Apply AI-assisted development responsibly while ensuring code quality, security, maintainability, and compliance with project standards.

Team Collaboration

• Work closely with Solution Architects, Technical Leads, QA engineers, Business Analysts, and other developers.
• Participate in sprint planning, technical discussions, estimation, and agile development processes.
• Mentor junior developers and share technical knowledge with the team.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• 6 years of professional software development experience.
• Minimum 3 years of hands-on full-stack development experience with Java and React.
• Strong hands-on experience with:
• Java 11/17 and object-oriented programming principles.
• Spring Framework, Spring Boot, Spring MVC, and Spring Data.
• React.js, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, and responsive UI development.
• RESTful API development and API integration.
• Oracle Database, SQL, and PL/SQL.
• Git, code review processes, and collaborative development workflows.
• Unit testing frameworks such as JUnit and frontend testing frameworks.
• Build tools such as Maven or Gradle.
• Debugging, profiling, and performance optimization techniques.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working on large-scale enterprise applications with complex business workflows.
• Experience modernizing legacy Java applications.
• Experience with container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI/CD.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Oracle Cloud.
• Exposure to healthcare applications, Hospital Information Systems (HIS), Electronic Health Records (EHR), or healthcare interoperability standards such as HL7 and FHIR.
• Experience using AI-powered development tools such as Fable, Opus, GPT, GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, or similar platforms.
