I am a highly motivated academician with a proven track record in all aspects of being a faculty member i.e. research, teaching, and institutional service. My area of expertise is control systems and power electronics.
I have around 11 years of job in academia. I have obtained 5 research grants, published 15 high impact factors journals and 9 conference papers, and supervised 1 PhD student, 28 MS thesis and 14 undergraduate final year projects. I held the position of Head of Department from August 2019 to July 2022.
Managing the department was challenging during Covid-19, but it has provided me with invaluable experience. I lead the efforts for online / hybrid teaching and virtual labs to minimize the impact on education quality. I am also responsible for accreditation based on Washington Accord, an aptitude that has become essential in engineering education around the world.
I have kept myself up-to-date with good pedagogic practices. I consistently obtain the highest student feedback scores in the department. I have received the university best teacher award in 2016. I am also adept with the full spectrum of e-learning tools, including moodle, blackboard, odoo, oracle campus management, MS Teams, Zoom, etc.
Besides the academic proficiency, I also have 3 years of industrial experience in embedded system design and firmware programming. This competency allows me to better prepare my students for the job market and supervise applied research projects.
I have obtained qualifications from some of the best institutions in the world. My PhD and MSc is from the Department of Electrical Engineering, Imperial College London, United Kingdom (QS Ranking: 7). I obtained bachelor of electrical engineering from the top ranking university of Pakistan, i.e., National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) (QS Ranking:334), where I also joined as a faculty member after my doctoral studies and currently serving as a full professor.
