Elaena Khan

I have studied and worked in the USA since 2021, only having returned in November last year upon cessation of my academic duties. I am graduating presently with a Psychology major and a Creative Writing minor, and have navigated life experiences of vast and diverse natures, having learned an array of skills and improvisational techniques. I am looking for solid work experience in the relevant categories in order to validate my existing knowledge and experiences.

DSP (Direct Support Person) at Achievement Unlimited, Inc. (2024-02 – 2024-06)

I tended to elderly individuals who were developmentally disabled. This included toileting, ambulating, assisting with food intake, looking after them when they're ill, reasoning with them to perform their daily activities, having activity sessions with them where we did a range of things from painting to playing cards to taking walks together. I assisted them with showers and changing and overall took an initiative to make their lives easier.

Resident Assistant at Knox College (2021-02 – 2022-05)

I was responsible for living with my residents (other students at the college) and was in charge of three suites, with 40 residents total. I made sure that their needs were met at the school and acted as the bridge of communication between students and Campus Life. Additionally, I was tasked with sorting out any issues that my residents had with each other, which took a great deal of communications and negotiations skills.

I held meetings with them bi-weekly and was responsible for a weekly newsletter as well as reports on each and every one of the residents, particularly if they seemed to be having a hard time.
