- Reviews existing HSE policy/procedures and recommending modifications and amendments to supervisor for implementation in accordance with local and International regulations and standards. Includes liaising with other senior personnel in Operations Division on development and implementation of new HSE procedures and practices, recommending amendments and discussing with superior. Issues new procedures and practices, distributes to users in all operational locations and monitors Implementation.
- Interface with site supervisors on a daily basis to provide proactive technical advice for field activities
- Delegate responsibilities to Safety Assistants to provide an effective safety monitoring and supervisor support program
- Verify safety precautions stipulated on permits to work, risk assessments and job safety analysis are being implemented
- Verify all scaffolding is tagged and a safe condition
- Identify site hazards, non-conformances, corrective and preventive actions and bring them to the immediate attention of site supervision (and record)
- Closely monitor high risk activities; confined space entry gas testing and air monitoring, lifting activities, work at height, movement of abnormal loads etc.
- Supports Manager HSE in the Environmental Health and Safety Management System and Implementations of developed ES-OHS-MS and all underlying SOP'S.
- Ensures, in accordance with the corporate guidelines, IFC Performance standards, and the implementation, updating and review of the Company HSE Systems including ES-OHS-MS and other relevant documents implementations.
- Monitors the effective implementation of Developed HSE procedures and relevant SOP'S.
- Provides for motivation and familiarization of all Company personnel respecting the importance of complying with Company system procedures and all Safety equipment provided.
- Conducts & Participate in safety audits both internal and external. Takes part in accident / incident investigation.
- Carries out analysis of accident / incident statistics, identifying trends and suggesting improvement plans.
- Provides technical support to Senior Management on any safety related subjects. Carries out any in-house safety training and drills as per training plan. Carries out safety audits on Contractor or Sub-contractors.
- Safety related engineering input into new project and modification programs or new requirements as per ES-OHS-MS which is developed as per IFC Standards.
- Performs Risk Assessment or job safety analysis as per need basis.
