Dr. Syed Husain Haider Rizvi has done his PhD in the field of Environmental Sciences from Aix-Marseille University, France. During the PhD, he participated in the national project (ANR- RECOVER) of biodiversity restoration of acidified forest catchments. Climate Change, soil biodiversity, carbon sequestration, forest health assessment and effects of soil micro climate on forest sustainability were addressed in the project.
Being the “Scientific Researcher” he is leading his team in different national and international projects relevant to forest soil ecology, soil health assessment, soil biodiversity, soil organic carbon (SOC), carbon sequestration, mesofauna species richness, fungal biomass, soil contaminations, and impacts of acid rains on the soils of national parks, protected areas and forests of Pakistan. His findings on carbon sequestration and soil health assessment of Margalla Hills National Park-Pakistan has been published in a UN-HABITAT’s report titled “Islamabad Pakistan Climate Change Vulnerability Assessment”.

He is also involved in several R&D and commercial projects related to ambient air quality monitoring. The monitoring of criteria pollutants in urban as well as industrial areas has been conducted by his team. He also possesses vast experience in comparing and validating the satellite and ground based air quality monitoring results.
In this specific R&D study, he would participate in ground based ambient air quality monitoring in the northern region of Pakistan. Field expeditions with real time data collection for the mentioned parameters on specific locations will be conducted by him. Moreover, the chemical analysis of filters papers to investigate the physiochemical characteristics of particulate matters will also be conducted by him in this project.
His team would also participate in the statistical analysis and report writing for the results acquired in the project.
