About
Avionics Engineer with hands-on experience in flight control systems, UAV communication protocols, and sensor/embedded system integration. Developed a custom RS-485 Modbus communication stack and real-time control logic to drive a 6-motor Stewart Platform with encoder feedback and multi-axis synchronization; built an Instrument Landing System (ILS) simulation with automated Glide Slope and Marker Beacon detection logic and Interface Control Document (ICD) authoring; and built an ADS-B aircraft tracking system using RTL-SDR for real-time RF signal acquisition and decoding. Direct exposure to UAV telemetry and ground control via MAVLink protocol, Mission Planner, and MATLAB/Simulink real-time simulation, gained through UAV system integration internship work.
Bachelor of Science in Avionics Engineering, Institute of Space Technology, Islamabad. Actively building additional proficiency in PX4/ArduPilot autopilot integration, embedded C/C++, and PCB design tools (Altium/KiCad) to extend this foundation to full UAV avionics platforms.
Experience
Final Year Project - Qasim Aviation Base - Islamabad, Pakistan
(2024-06 - 2025-07)
- Identified and analyzed RS-485 Modbus communication protocols used by Dorna servo drivers, and implemented a USB-to-RS485 conversion path for direct PC-to-driver communication.
- Decoded and interfaced with Dorna M1/B1 servo motor drivers using minimal manufacturer documentation, replacing an unreliable commercial motion controller with a lower-level, custom-built solution.
- Developed a complete Python-based embedded communication stack from scratch, parsing the Modbus protocol and Dorna command set for real-time motor control.
- Calibrated baud rate and serial configuration parameters for stable communication across all 6 motors, and designed control logic using encoder feedback (position, speed, target tracking) for smooth degree-of-freedom transitions.
- Currently developing a SimTools plugin to enable real-time target position updates from motion simulation software.
Intern - NAQCORP Technologies - Islamabad, Pakistan
(2024-07 - 2024-08)
- Contributed to research and system integration on the "Miqdam Drone" project, studying the MAVLink communication protocol used for UAV telemetry.
- Configured Mission Planner alongside MATLAB/Simulink for real-time UAV simulation and control, and assisted in equipment selection including telemetry modules and flight controllers.
- Gained practical exposure to UAV system architecture, communication links, and ground station integration under the direct supervision of the CEO.
Education
