As a Mechanical design engineer, collaborated with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing,
testing, and quality assurance, to ensure design feasibility and efficiency, I worked as a Tool and die designer,
team leader for the execution of mechanical structures and dies. Key role involves conceptualizing, designing,
and developing the idea ensuring that they meet the safety standards and operational requirements. Handson experience of maintenance and modification in Plastic injection molds & sheet metal dies.
Expertise spans Siemens NX, SolidWorks, and AutoCAD Mechanical. Adept at managing complex tooling projects from concept through commissioning, ensuring robust designs that reduce tooling iterations, improve part quality, and increase tool life.
JW Vendor city (Haier subsidiary – Haier & RUBA Economic zone)
Designation: Mechanical Design Engineer – Tooling & Mold Systems
Duration: 3+ years (Feb 2022 – Present)
Vision-driven engineering professional with over 3+ years of progressive experience leading the design, development, and optimization of precision tooling systems—including sheet metal progressive dies and injection molds for high-volume manufacturing environments. Proven ability to align design strategies with production goals and cost constraints, while leading cross-functional teams in CAD development, design reviews, and tooling validation.
Currently working at JWVC (Mass production of Plastic & sheet metal parts of Haier, Orient, Gree, Dawlance).
Here’s the job description listed.
Tool Design Leadership: Develop detailed 3D CAD models and 2D technical drawings for progressive sheet metal dies, plastic injection molds. Applied GD&T and tolerance stack-up methodologies for robust die alignment and repeatability. Preparing drawings (for Laser cut & Wire cut) and models for design execution at manufacturing floor.
DFM/DFA Execution: Apply Design for Manufacturability and Assembly principles to ensure ease of machining, assembly, and die maintenance while minimizing rework and improving tool life.
GD&T & Tolerance Stack-Up: Define geometric dimensioning and tolerances in alignment with ISO standards. Perform clearance and tolerance stack studies to guarantee proper fit and function.
Material Selection: Select appropriate tool steels for sheet metal dies manufacturing. Specialized in the design and development of progressive and transfer sheet metal dies for stamping applications.
Cross-functional Coordination: Collaborate with machining, assembly, quality, and production teams to incorporate practical feedback into design iterations, ensuring tooling success from tryout through
SOP (Start of Production).
Technical Reporting: Look after the imported dies & molds provided by clients, preparing reports regarding present condition of dies for further use & deliver it to client to maintain record and life cycle of dies and molds. Accidental repairing / maintenance and modification in Plastic injection molds and sheet metal dies as per customer requirements.
Project Management: Lead and manage design schedules, milestone reviews, BOM generation, and design documentation. Provide status updates to higher management authority.
Mentorship & Training: Meeting with design teams to determine mechanical applications and requirements. Guide juniors in industry-standard practices, 3D modeling techniques, and manufacturing-oriented design thinking.
